The 2008 National Football League Thread

Nice pic of ray. He’s gonna carve some redskin meat tonight!

K-Dub and Fat Pat are still playing bitches!!

that’d be so funny if we came out and lost to the lowly lions today, even with our two star defensive linemen.

the Dolphins and Bills are playing in Canadia for some weird reason. But that just means that the game will be inside, so the harsh weather won’t be a problem for us tropical folk.

Yep, broadcast live on Fox.

^HAHA!!

serious? I think that’s Shank-dog! (Visanthe Shiancoe, tight end)

but why does Ziggy even have to give a game-ball for a game against the Lions? We should’ve won that game by 20 points. Oh well, we’re 8-5, and the Packers are 5-8. It is a good day.

Brad Childress is attempting to catch a glimpse of his dong!

I think that is a fire-able offense, don’t you?

Not as long as they’re winning!

I think I heard during the Colts game that the Colts are 1 of only 2 teams in NFL history to have 5 consecutive seasons in which they’ve had 6-game winning streaks. I believe a 49ers team from the 80s is the other.

If they win out, their streak of seasons with at least 12 wins would still be in tact at 6. That’s goddamned impressive.

You guys should change the name of this thread to The 2008 National American Football League Thread. I got excited and thought America formed a new league for TRUE FOOTBALL. You know, the game where you actually use your feet…

^pffft

It’s entitled the National Football League because that’s the name of the actual league.

Any beef you have should be addressed to Mr. Roger Goodell.

Oh well…Go Pats!

Hey, the kickers and punters use their feet! That counts. And frankly, I thought we figured out these names: What the NFL does is called “football” and what the soccer players do is called “proper football.” Simple as that.

Anyway, gotta love the Lions. I don’t think the Vikings could have done ANY more to hand that game to the Lions and they STILL couldn’t win. Frerotte remembering that he’s Gus Frerotte and throwing picks (though one was tipped)…check. Peterson again having fumbling problems?..Check. The Vikes actually bringing in Tavaris frickin Jackson to lead them to a comeback win? Check. The Vikes benching Jared Allen, Hutchinson, the Williams boys, and Adrian Peterson?..oh wait…they forgot that part. Even worse, the Lions actually took a few chances and it still didn’t work…now I know why Marinelli’s been such a fraidy-cat coach all year…he knew it wouldn’t work anyway.

Either way, that’s probably the last chance for the Lions. They ain’t beating the Colts next week, the Saints will throw for 600 yards on them the week after and they never win in Lambeau. Ug.

But, hey, at least I got to see the Cowboys shoot themselves in the foot again. That was nice.

And nice to see the fantasy playoffs starting in the OKP. Although it’s a bit depressing that GOEAGLES quit about ten weeks ago and gets a first round bye (with Kurt Warner still on his bench). Oh well. I also just noticed that we’re going to have Week 17 be our finals…I’d recommend against doing that in the future and make it Week 16. It sucks being worried that your guys will be benched if you make it to the finals. Oh well…no biggie…it’s just for fun anyway.

Joey Porter, stop flapping your fat gums.

Literally and figuratively.

^even as a hardcore Dol-fan who’s grown to dig Porter’s playing this year, i’ve got to agree.

guns are wicked stupid.

and i was reading the article and thinking, “you know, he’s got a point. A lot of these players seem to get into some bad situations. Maybe they should have a gun.”

and then i read the commissioner’s statement about “if you feel like you’re in a place where you need a gun, you’re probably in the wrong place and just don’t be there” and it sounded a bit more towards my point of view.

even though it said in there that he was robbed at gunpoint so he has his reasons, i also think…Joey Porter is a scary mother fucker. That should be defense enough, no?

^damn.

a ref got taken out in the dolphins game too.

is this a rebellion?

Bow down before your masters!

^first of all…best avatar ever!

second of all…GO STEELERS!

with 75% of my family originating in the Pittsburgh area and lots of cousins still living there and spending all my summers as a kid there, it was awesome to see them (first of all broadcast on TV down here) to win the division.

it was especially awesome because they beat the Ravens, one of the 3 teams in the Dolphins’ way of playoff glory. If only the never-to-be-trusted-to-come-through Bills and the shouldn’t-have-fired-their-coach-Raiders would have known enough to take out the Jets and Patriots, the Fins would be sitting pretty in first place right now.

anyway, Steelers-Dolphins is gonna be a great AFC Championship game.
