^ Nice Stevo…Way to call out Fisher…I didn’t even know that happened…I bet a lot of us don’t as I pretty much stopped watching the game after the 1st quarter.

Yeah and I do feel bad for you man…That’s rough…0-16. I got to listen to sports talk here in Indy the Colts message board flooded with callers/posters calling for Dungy’s head, saying that we need to revamp everything. It’s the same thing every year here in Indy when we lose in the playoffs. We’ve got 6 straight seasons of 12 wins a, Super Bowl, and 5 division titles. That’s the last 6 years here. Gotta admit were pretty lucky in Indy. Now that being said we should have won in 05. The Colts were the best team that year, but the Dungy tragedy plus not playing a meaningful game in like a month and half killed us and a hot Steelers team came to town and beat us. 06 we took the crown unexpectedly. 07 yeah we lost to SD, but we weren’t beating New England…I don’t care what anyone says…No Freeny no pass rush–Brady goes off…This year no running game so what do you expect.

Well I’ve made my peace. We got it good here and Detroit yeah I wish I could say something nice. At least you got the 1st pick. Don’t take a QB here either trade down or take that bad ass LT from Alabama or some key position on the defensive or offensive line and start building properly.

The colts are over. 12 win seasons don’t mean anything when you can’t get it done in the post season. Next year they will be 9-7, tops.

I agree with your first statement, but I don’t see a 9-7 season next year. True, they might have a new coach, and they might be without Marvin, but they’ve still got tons of talent. Plus that Manning guy.

I don’t know if the Colts are done or anything…they’ve got one of the best GMs in sports and they ALWAYS draft well. I disagree with how Dungy and Moore runs the offense as they rarely seem to run the ball enough but those can be fixed. The Colts just reload every year. Harrison is fading, sure (plus I’m still baffled at how he hasn’t been charged in that shooting when ALL the evidence points to him) but the Colts will reload with another receiver eventually. They may have a down year or two but as long as that management is in place, they won’t be down long.

And to be fair, the Colts have never had that knockout defense for Dungy’s entire run except for the Super Bowl year. That year they won on run game and defense but in all the other years the defense was less-than.

And you said it, Fee…if the Lions select a QB, I will scream. I do like the idea of trading down but when’s the last time ANYONE with a #1 pick was EVER able to trade down? The Chargers did it because Eli bitched his way onto the Giants but that was a very rare case. Even last year, the Lions wanted to trade down from #2 with Calvin Johnson there and no one wanted to do it. It’s a pipe dream. I’m with you though…take Andre Smith and get Backus the hell out of that left tackle position. I’m deathly afraid of how the Lions will blow this draft with all those picks.

Stevo

so the Cardinals are in the NFC Championship game…well that is about as barf-tastic as it gets

That was a great performance on the road from the Eagles defense.

Fly Eagles Fly, on the road to the NFC

Yeah who would’ve seen an Eagles, Cardinals NFC Championship game? Baltimore, Pittsburgh should be sweet on the AFC side.

Go Steelers!

Watched the Giants/Eagles game yesterday, and although I’m traditionally a Giant fan, I found myself rooting for the Eagles halfway through the game because the Eagles are doing what the Giants did last year, and I cannot not appreciate that team for what they’ve accomplished so far. The Giants have lacked that Championship spark for several games now, and quite frankly didn’t deserve to win yesterday and move on to the NFC Championship against Arizona.

Should be good games next week. I like the Eagles and the Ravens. Damn, three birds in the playoffs. If only Pittsburg had their hockey team’s name, it would be totally for the birds. But a local rivalry between Baltimore and Philadelphia might add more energy and spirit to the Superbowl.

GO EAGLES!

A helluva time to be a Philly fan right now. Coming off a WS victory, the Flyers are in first place, plus I get a feeling the Eagles will be in the SB. Too bad the 76ers suck.

haha, I like that Peyton/Braves pic. Classic!

I also like the Peyton commercial… “Th’weather here’s sweeet!”

Dungy is officially stepping down. Retirement could be too strong of a word, because it would imply he’s definitively never coaching again. He probably won’t, but I guess the door needs to be left open since he’s relatively young by coaching standards.

Damn, we enjoyed some good times in the Dungy era, didn’t we Fee?

it’s a good time for the Colts. they need to freshen things up a bit.

from an outsider’s view, things have gotten pretty stale in Indy. Plus, Dungy had made it clear the past few years that he wasn’t in it for the long run, which one could argue was a detriment to the team’s goals in the first place.

By “championship spark” do you mean “Plaxico Burress”? Because that’s REALLY what they lack and without that deep threat, it made them a lot easier to defend. Either way, I never know what to expect from the Eagles. That game was a microcosm of their entire season…they looked horrible at times but then did just enough to succeed. Against Arizona, they could win by 30 or lose by 30 and I wouldn’t be surprised either way.

As for the Cards, I’m pleased to see Kurt Warner back in the NFC Title game. I was always a fan of his in St. Louis so I’m pulling for him. As always, you never know what to expect from Delhomme and he proved that on Saturday night for sure. Wow. I’d say it’s time for Carolina to finally move on from that dude. 2004 was nice but it just hasn’t been the same.

Also, I’d say it’s official now. We’ve always liked to say that the Lions are the worst team in the league but the Cardinals have always been there with a good debate on their side. The one thing the Lions had was making an NFC Title game. Well now the Cards have added two more playoff wins (both teams only had one win since the 50’s) AND they’re in the NFC Title game too. Combined with the fine 0-16 season by the Lions, I’d say we officially clinched the title that weekend. Congrats to the Lions. Best of the Worst baby!!

And I figured the Titans would come out flat but what do I know…they actually looked pretty solid but those turnovers were killers. And once again Flacco did JUST ENOUGH to win and wasn’t asked to do anything more. I find it hard to believe that he’ll be able to do that especially against the Steelers. Unless the Ravens D totally disrupts that game (which is possible), the Steelers will likely stop the Ravens run and force Flacco to throw and he won’t be able to. I’m VERY pumped for that game though…gotta love the defensive struggles.

Stevo

They’re showing the Dungy press conference live. Irsay spoke and choked up a few times, now Polian is at the podium and he’s choked up a few times too.

This is sad. It sucked when Reggie retired, it sucks now, and it’s going to such when Manning retires. As a Colt.

Thanks for 7 great years Coach Dungy. You are the epitome of class and stand for all that is good in this world. We were lucky to have you here in Indy!!!

^he never coached the Dolphins but here here!

class act. Good coach.

Let’s not forget the Bucs team that won the Super Bowl that was mostly players that he acquired.

I think saying that Tony Dungy “stands for all that is good in the world” is going a bit too far.

I’m sure he’s charitable and I know he’s very religious and humble, but, in the end, he’s a football coach.

maybe I’m just jealous of your team actually having a competent coach, but I don’t take sports THAT seriously…
