By “championship spark” do you mean “Plaxico Burress”? Because that’s REALLY what they lack and without that deep threat, it made them a lot easier to defend. Either way, I never know what to expect from the Eagles. That game was a microcosm of their entire season…they looked horrible at times but then did just enough to succeed. Against Arizona, they could win by 30 or lose by 30 and I wouldn’t be surprised either way.
As for the Cards, I’m pleased to see Kurt Warner back in the NFC Title game. I was always a fan of his in St. Louis so I’m pulling for him. As always, you never know what to expect from Delhomme and he proved that on Saturday night for sure. Wow. I’d say it’s time for Carolina to finally move on from that dude. 2004 was nice but it just hasn’t been the same.
Also, I’d say it’s official now. We’ve always liked to say that the Lions are the worst team in the league but the Cardinals have always been there with a good debate on their side. The one thing the Lions had was making an NFC Title game. Well now the Cards have added two more playoff wins (both teams only had one win since the 50’s) AND they’re in the NFC Title game too. Combined with the fine 0-16 season by the Lions, I’d say we officially clinched the title that weekend. Congrats to the Lions. Best of the Worst baby!!
And I figured the Titans would come out flat but what do I know…they actually looked pretty solid but those turnovers were killers. And once again Flacco did JUST ENOUGH to win and wasn’t asked to do anything more. I find it hard to believe that he’ll be able to do that especially against the Steelers. Unless the Ravens D totally disrupts that game (which is possible), the Steelers will likely stop the Ravens run and force Flacco to throw and he won’t be able to. I’m VERY pumped for that game though…gotta love the defensive struggles.
