The Mike v. OKP Chess Match will take place Monday (4/17) @ 9pm EST. The venue has been moved to pogo.com… see “viewing” instructions for details.
Movers/Shakers:
- moves committee: bigdude, astral, zoot
- primary moderator/liaison: iccullus
- secondary moderator: willbreathes
- team okp: all members in okp ‘main room’ chat
Rules for ‘Main Room’ Chat:
- free chat until singal (whip sound effect)
- when moderator gives the signal all talking must stop
Voting:
- the liaison will relay three move options** created by the committee
- move options will be presented in ‘full algebraic’ form (very basic; see explaination below)
- each move will be assigned a number… ie.(1. e2-e4) (2. g1-f3) (3. f1-b5)
- votes will be cast by simply entering the number of the move you prefer
- members will have 60 seconds to vote once the options have been presented
- moderators will count the votes and confirm winner
- a moderator will give the signal to resume ‘free chat’ and liaison relay winning move to the committee
*in order to set up our initial strategy and get the game moving, the moves committee will make the first three moves of the match. subsequent moves will be voted upon by okp members in the main chat room.
**positioning may limit the # of available moves
Move Notation:
- moves will be relayed using “full algebraic” notation
- full algebraic uses solely letter/number grid of the board to communicate moves*
- the first letter/number combination identifies the starting square of the piece to be moved
- the second letter/number combination identifies the poition that piece is moving to
- here’s an example:
on the board, the last move made by black would be written as follows: c7-c5. The pawn on square c7 has moved two spaces to c5 to threaten white's knight.
*the one exception to this form is made when “castling”. castling is writen as O-O.
Viewing the Game:
- the game will take place at pogo.com; to view the game you will need to set up a an account
- here’s a link to the registration page:
http://www.pogo.com/action/pogo/lightregview.do?sls=2&site=pogo- once you are registered, add "okpchess" to your "friends list" - your friends list will then give you the location of our table - after you find the table simply push the "watch" button to view the game - there is a chat at the bottom of the board. i don't see any problem with people saying a quick hello to mike, but please don't abuse this function. (use the okp chat as your main communication with eachother) - any extremely negative comments directed toward mike will result in you being kicked and banned from the table. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [b]The Mike v.
