sweet, thanks, will be a great listen tomm morn at work

I thought the best thing about the Lawn Boy album being covered is the piano solo in Squirming Coil, the other songs are done well, but that piano solo is the highlight of it all, check it out

Interesting…

Not really a fan of the vocals at all.

Decent musicianship.

This is after listening to their Halloween show.

Yep.

I agree Will, I was immediately turned off by the vocals.

coil piano solo

best part of the show

Musically, I feel they nailed Lawn Boy. But their vocals are def the biggest weakness of the band. Most of the songs they write kind of hide this fact. At shows I usually tune out the vocals and focus on the music being played. I am glad some of you have listened and commented on the show and hopefully you check them out again in the future!

that madball mask is my friend’s mask. no joke. his sister is matt (the keyboardist’s) gf. booztravlr howr u connected to the breakfast?

That mask was awesome! I’ve been seeing them for a while now and I do a bunch of promo for them through their .info website. Basically make a bunch of promo discs with show/disc info on the slim cd cases and mail them to people on the .info website so they can pass them out in the cities the breakfast will be playing. I pay for everything out of pocket but I get on the guest list for almost all the Upstate NY shows which is def cool with me. The last time they played Syracuse I had them and their crew over for a bbq beforehand. I’ll probably be down your way for their 12/29 show. Do you get out to their shows at all?

nice avatar

nobody just plays heroin hero a little bit

Listening now, I think its pretty amazing the effort they put in to getting the details correct, and the reba Jam I thought was pretty good (that’s as far as I’ve gotten).

One interesting thing is the Guitarist’s tone. It’s so shitty. Maybe its just the recording, but I don’t think so. It really shows how versatile Trey was with his tone, and how much it added, although most never really thought about it. Its absence is painfully clear with this guitarist. No one expects him to have it, but it gives me another appreciation for Trey’s choice of electronics.

Overall, these guys are pretty damn ballsy, and they did an incredible job. EDIT: (so far)

^ When Trey played the Beatles, Who, Talking Heads, Velvet Underground or Pink Floyd did he have the same exact guitar tone as those original albums?

Feature article on Jambase.com includes an interview of Tim Palmieri.

The drummer just became a father so that’s why they’re not playing a lot of shows the rest of the year.

no booz, he didn’t. I’m not trying to insult the breakfast, they did an incredible job. I’m just saying that that many people discount trey’s tone as a part of what makes phish incredible, and don’t even think about it. In this recording, the difference is made very clear.

two ts 9’s, some compression

he plays a strat. can’t get that tone out of a strat. just can’t.

well you can replace the single coil with hum’s, but you won’t get the sustain from a solid body like that of a hollow, but you can get very close, but the dude isn’t going to change his rig up for 8 or 9 songs

u’d be suprised what you can get out of a strat

oh i was just talking out my ass as usual. no disrespek to the strats. or the breakfast. or minorities in general.

For anyone interested, they are doing a radio interview right now. You can stream it here. Hour long show that will feature them playing some songs too.
