My aunt just randomly sent this to me a couple days ago for christmas and I dont even remember telling her that I like monty python but I do so yay!!!. Anyways, I’m actually more familar with the movies than the series so I was wondering if theres any monty python fans out there that can recommend some episodes i should watch. I mean theres like 36 hours of stuff so yeah…I randomly just picked disc 7 (7 being my lucky number) and the episode i watched was “the Atilla the hun show” which had me laughing from start to finish. Any suggestions on other episodes? I’m probably just going to continue to dive right in but I was wondering if theres anything specific i should watch. Not including the parrot sketch, I mean everyones seen that so yeah. Calling all Python fans!!!
The two discs in the purple cases are great. And the light green ones as well. Haven’t watched those DVDs in a while, maybe I should dust them off.
Yeah actually I watched the reunion show from 1998 that was on hbo. I had seen it before and I forgot how amazingly hilarious it is.The whole thing with Graham Chapmans ashes is awesome and I think he would have appreciated the whole spectacle knowing the nature and characteristics of the pythons. I just discovered the episode guide booklet so I’ll probably look through and just pick what seems interesting. Also they have the best of for each individual python actor/comedian so I’m definately going to enjoy that.
Ahh Graham Chapman, God rest him.
i got the second season of SNL from the library recently and there’s this episode hosted by Eric Idle with Joe Cocker & Stuff as musical guest and a clip from the Rutles.
probably the best episode of SNL i’ve ever seen.
i’d love to get a hold of some python. Never seen much of it. I was always an SNL kid.
Belushi & Cocker = comedy gold
Damn, damn, damn. I was supposed to put both the Python and the SNL on my Christmas list. Guess I’ll have to buy myself a little gift or two. Thanks for reminding me people.
I have been a Monty Python fan as far back as I can remember, but I just read the wiki on Graham Chapman…it was unknown previously to me that he had a male life partner.
Agreed. Belushi’s imitation of Cocker is possibly one of the funniest SNL skits ever. He NAILED him.
And I can’t even really name a single Monty Python episode since each show is so wacked out and disjointed I can’t even remember what order they go in. You really can just watch any of them and be entertained. They also show them on Saturday nights on PBS usually and I always try to catch them then. Great stuff.
