Hey Axilla! Freebaraco is right! Although I have been listening to less and less electronic music in recent years, I have a long history of working with and listening to electronic music. Between 1995-2002 I probably saw every dj and live pa from throughout the country and some from overseas. I used to produce electronic music festivals (raves) and got a chance to work with some incredible electronic music talent.
That being said, around 2001 I started to waver from the electronic world and back into punk and indie rock. I may be a little out of the loop today, but I can suggest some great tunes from my experiences from a few years ago.
Derek May, Plastikman, Sasha and Digweed, Christopher Lawrence, John Aquiviva, Sandra Collins, Dieselboy, Union Jack, Carl Cox, Dave Ralph, 187, Taylor, Doran, Psycho Bitch, Frankie Bones, Daniel, Kruder and Dorfmeister, ADULT., and Paul Van Dyke are all pretty good options for DJ mix CDs
When it comes to independent track producers try:
Electric Skychurch, Daft Punk, Digital Assasins, Deepsky, BT, Bassnector, any of the Platypus Records stuff (Union Jack, POB, Art of Trance, Terra Ferma), anything off of Hooj Choons or Hook Recordings, or any of the Liquid Sky NYC label
For some indie rock with heavy electronic overtones look to:
LCD Soundsystem, The Presets, CSS, Shout Out Out Out Out, The Faint, Walter Meego, Dan Deacon, Peaches, the Postal Service, The Elected’s first album (alt country + electonics?), or Junior Boys.
For Mashups:
Girl Talk, Ztrip, Freelance Hellraiser, or the Life During Wartime crew
This is of course just a short primer. I can go on forever if you want…
