i love jamming around this song on guitar while i listen to it…
the silent parts are absolutely the reason why its a great tune

YES. Silence is what makes some music so beautiful. I always think of the ‘pause’ during Divided as the moment when you realize it’s not just about the band playing a song. It’s about the audience, and that exchange of energy between the two. The band isn’t playing but the music goes on through the noise the audience makes.
I am starting to see whay Trey can make this song a staple on his little acoustic / TAB band tour. He has that ability to rir it open and make it vibrate you, or he can throw the strings and other stuff at you and make it mellow and lovely… Did I just say lovely?..
This is one of my favorites… I really dig my 4/22/90, and that’s definetly one of my favorite skies. It just flows, and it could pass for an alternate studio take; the latter section is spot on, but different. Great stuff, solid solid show.
was listening to
12-07-94 Spreckels Theatre, San Diego, CA
1: Peaches en Regalia-> Runaway Jeff, The Sloth, Ya Mar, Split Open and Melt, Guyute, Lifeboy, Chalk Dust Torture
2: Rift, Frankenstein, The Divided Sky, Fee-> Julius, I’m Blue I’m Lonesome*, My Long Journey Home*, Amazing Grace*, You Enjoy Myself
E: Cavern
*Acoustic and unamplified.
I really enjoyed this Divided Sky for some reason, it just jumped out at me
Everyone screams during the pause b/c no one knows what to do and then they feel uncomfortable so they start screaming like hysterical crazy people. What if everyone did the opposite and became really quiet? I think that would’ve been a louder statement.
Junta
The D-Sky from this seems to have a perfect strangers tease
the part where the theme song’s melody goes with these lyrics
“Rise and fall
On the wings of my dream
Rain and thunder, the wind and haze
I’m bound for better days
It’s my life
It’s my dream
Nothin’s gonna stop me now”
somebody else check this out and let me know what ya think, i suppose the era is about right considering the show started in 86 and ended in 93
anybody feel like giving the junta d sky a run through to see if they to hear this
anybody care to give it an examination
don’t be ridiculous (in best balcy accent)
j/k, perhaps i will check out this strange tease you speak of
it could just be trey’s tone and the sustain, but it def has that same melody
if you want to hear the perfect strangers theme song, or any other sitcom for that matter check out this link, and scroll down to perfect strangers, and click on the little audio icon thinger
This has probably been posted somewhere else on here. But maybe not.
In any event, pretty wild. I don’t think I could do this. There’s some crazy ass shit around the 3:00-4:00 minute mark.
I was listening to this show today! I couldn’t help but think about all the pauses over the years and wonder what everyone’s thoughts were on them. Heard opinions from both ends of the spectrum. On the one hand, the energy during the pauses reached so high at times that I just wanted to jump out of my fucking skin. On the other hand, at times, it seemed like another excuse for Trey to stroke his fucking ego. “I’m just gonna stand there and watch you clap for me until I feel like finishing the song. Okay, that’s long enough” :: hit’s THE note::
Anybody have an opinion either way?
I just downloaded a Divided Sky ringtone…pretty sweet…for anyone who cares, lol

6/9/09. A masterpiece.
agreed. best one i’ve ever seen. if not for the execution (which is just about flawless), then for the moment it represented.
