The Greatest Frontman!

They all suckle at the proverbial tit of Jagger. Plus none of the above mentioned write lyrics anywhere near as good as Jagger. Regardless, there are too many greats left off that list, but the fact that anyone would say that Jim Morrison has any talent whatsoever other than being a no-talent hack is just shocking to me. The rest of the list, other than Jagger, is actually laughable to me.

you have forgotten someone very important. i think the poll should be remade and include this man instead of eddie vedder.

Steve Perry.

my vote goes to him. nothing hits my quite like a journey song. nothing.

hey, we’ve all made mistakes

I must admit, I do really like Jagger.

And Freddy Mercury.

The others are great but those 2…what showmanship!
And that’s certainly the main quality you want in a frontman.

Gotta go with Roth for the poll. Perhaps if you all had put some thought into this Roth would have been your decision! Here are some raw facts. No other band on that list has had a more eagerly anticipated reunion than VH. granted some of these guys are dead but excuses are a turn off for me. For a good portion of the 70’s Roth’s name was thought to be Van Halen! The name of the band is in honer of the drummer and guitar player and the focal point of the band is the Fromtman! Not to mention we share a cousin by marriage and i met him at her Bat Mitzvah and is a cool dude. Shalom Diamond Dave!

Not in the Poll is the true winner of this contest!

It looks like a poo has snuck up on him mid song.

Okay…I’m sorry for ripping on your thread man, but it kinda seems like a Rolling Stone or VH1 poll. If you’re juding based on actual talent and not number of records sold, you can’t not have:

George Clinton (Parliment/Funkadelic)
Iggy Pop (The Stooges)
Ray Davies (The Kinks)
Janis Joplin (Big Brother and the Holding Co.)
David Byrne (Talking Heads)
Joey Ramone (Ramones)
Gene Ween (Ween)
Chrissy Hynd (the Pretenders)
Gene Clarke (The Byrds)
Rod Stewart (Faces…Faces Stewart was good Stewart)
Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators)
Peter Gabriel (Genesis)

I’d still vote for Jagger anyway…I’m just saying…you gotta have Iggy on there. I guess I just had no idea that people actually think that Morrison is good, and I’m having a hard time grasping it. Someone just tell me what it is that you like about him…I want to understand.

is that “Retarded Jerry”?

^
LOL

He looks Chinese.

It’s gotta be Jim, although David Lee Roth is a close second.

Ween, lol.

I don’t get it.

Where the fu*k is James Brown!!!

Yeah I’m really drunk and a fan of Ween but I also will laugh out loud at Gene being mentioned heah.

Gene himself would laugh at being included in this discussion.

Freddie ftw.

^^ So would Eddie Vedder I presume. I’ll shut up now.

Holy shit!! You’re right!! I actually had the joy of seeing him a few years back and even at the age of 55 or whatever he lit up the room…though I’ll admit the show was more about his fantastic band than just him. Still just hear one of his old recordings when he was young and crazy…he could carry a whole song with just his voice as he made up lyrics. Listen to Live at the Apollo and you’ll see what I mean.

I should note that I only voted on a front man’s LIVE performance and not whether he wrote any of the music or whatever. I’d agree that Morrison wouldn’t be the greatest since he really only wrote lyrics, but based on him live he’s number one…but only barely.

Stevo

WoW, looks like we have a lot of JM/Doors fans on here.

Not surprising, but him doubling up the second-place vote getter is.

The clear frontrunner, the allmighty Oderous

I voted for Freddie, but I think that David Byrne worthy of making the list and so is Debrorah Harry.
