I love YEM, but I am a firm believer that The Divided Sky is definitely the 2nd best song on Junta. Especially halloween '95 version I love…
Your musical taste rules.
Add for me: ELP and Yes (pre-Top 40 Yes, that is). Can’s Future Days is a great album, as is Ash Ra’s Blackouts.
I downloaded the 12/9/95 show because it has what’s often cited as one of the best YEM’s. It’s a killer, that’s for sure. Good composed bits, a great jam, and, of course, the Beavis and Butthead vocal jam. I love the 10/31/95 version too (“fuck her in the ass! fuck her in the ass!”) but I have to be in the mood for that long spacy section of the jam.
I wish I’d heard this song in 1990, I’d have been on the Phish bus a lot earlier than in 2002.
As am i my friend my friend. Divided sky is teh amazing.
YEM was the first song i saw live, what a great way to start
you enjoy myself…now really, how much more could you ask for?
its just like this song. this song that is the song. the song that is you enjoy myself.
i dont know what im saying.
what can i say about yem?
nothing…i can only hear it playing in my head. words cannot describe…
Can any person on this entire board honestly say that the JUNTA version of YEM isn’t one of the first phish songs that you got hooked on? Seriously, this cut of the song showcases the perfection that phish achieves during this song as well as during the construction of all of their live jams. I know that it dragged me in to listening to phish heavily during the late 90’s, and I honestly can say after the 100+ versions of YEM that I have heard ( 17 in-concert), that it still stands in the top 5 EVER.
Fuck yea YEM.
the ALO version was the first yem for me, too
yem simply is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. period
and the wood block hits by fish … pure bliss
I think that this is one of those songs that, no matter what, it just makes the head bob, the feetmove, and just a total “surrender the the flow”. The song never fails to enlighten. This is the song that I play for peoples introduction to Phish. It’s a good, quick way to see who gets it and who doesn’t. More times than not, they don’t get it, and I’m fine with that, more for me!
It’s also one of those songs that the studio version is so crisp and clean and spot on that it’s just amazing!
i love YEM!
YEM is perfection.
The first song I ever saw live… A sweet 25 minute YEM with a Clone vocal jam.
I less than three YEM.
YEM truly is the best song ever.
it’s no Shine, but…
well okay it’s the best song ever.
I don’t know what more I can say about this song that hasn’t already been written in this thread. It is THE song. This song is Phish. I would guess it’s the song I have heard the most live and it can still bring tears to my eyes with it’s impeccable beauty.
