I think this place would be a lot breezier if everyone realized it’s a fucking Internet website about a band. This shit is so not worth getting hurt or pissed off over. Reality checks are in the mail.
I’m not going to speak for anybody else, but I will say that this is one of the few places that I can come and just be myself. In my life, I have to hide alot of things from alot of people. I won’t get into it so much, but let’s just say that when you’re living in a certain situation like the one I am, a place like the OKP is VERY important. I feel like you’re not really giving this place it’s due credit Greg. For some of us, it’s the ONLY way we can really stay involved in the scene. We’ve developed friendships here, bonds that really shouldn’t be broken. To say that it’s “fucking Internet website” is to say that it’s not a big part of life. For some people, me included, perhaps it IS a big part.
It’s a big part of mine.
Things I would like to see changed:
Vern needs to come back breezily.
Everyone needs to lay off him, no matter the reasons for him leaving. He’s still one of us.
Free Music Friday needs to come back.
Momma should be promoted and treated to a collective back massage.
Greg needs to get the tampon out of his rear.
Jawbone needs to keep making hilarious posts like the one on the last page.

Allow me to apologize if I’ve seemed a bit negative on here. I really hate politics but I keep finding myself wrapped up in the political threads on here and find myself writing these novel-length posts that are dripping in negativity about Iraq, the prez, the government and stuff in general.
Let me say that while I may get someone nasty in my posts, they are NEVER directed toward anyone here and I really try to avoid personal attacks and whatnot. One of the BIGGEST pet peeves I have is when people get in these little debates, they start to resort to personal attacks instead of debating the issues. I try my best to avoid this and I’d have to say that a LARGE majority of the posts on OKP avoid this as well so I think that even with posts about negative subjects, we’ve all remained relatively friendly.
I had one spat with someone on the heroin Trey post and I let loose but I clearly misunderstood the post and was quick to apologize since the lack of attacks on each other is one of the things I love about OKP. I’ll try to avoid that in the future.
As for activity, as many of you know, I don’t have internet and only get it from an occasional trip to a local library. If I had it full-time, you guys know I’d be wreaking havoc here on a daily basis.
With that said, despite all my negative stuff on politics, I’m really not very negative at all. I RARELY think about any politics and avoid any TV show that is even remotely political so I don’t even come across all these things in everyday life. I believe that a vast majority of people are very friendly and positive and that if we all just take our eyes from the fuck-ups in Washington and the music industry and look around, we’d all realize that what they do really doesn’t have that big an impact on any of our everyday lives (except in extreme cases like a war). And that’s a great thing. Right now my biggest concern is the Big Ten tournament in basketball and how my Michigan State Spartans will do today against Wisconsin. When that’s my biggest concern in life, then I’d say things are pretty good.
So, please, guys…I beg ya…don’t take my ramblings too seriously because I certainly don’t. I look at most things with a nice sense of humor and believe that you can find humor in anything (even if it may be a lil inappropriate). If I offend someone, please, point it out or PM me and let me know and I’ll stop.
And may I suggest that in the spirit of this thread that we all state some things that we LOVE. We all have our issues with Iraq, government, Phish, etc…but how about some things you LOVE?
For me, I LOVE when my cat greets me at the door after a day of work and gives me some kisses on the nose. She does it everyday and no matter what a rough day it is, it kinds of washes away from such a simple gesture from a simple animal. Sometimes I swear that animals “get it” so much more than we do.

I don’t really know what else to say about that one. It was a tight knit group in the beginning, and a LOT slower and duller than it is now. Belie dat. But you just got to stick through the tough times. When I think of some of the people I have become friends with on here, it freaks me out. This being the first and basically only internet message board type of deal I use, it really weirded me out when we first started really meeting people. I still remember the night driving down to Cincinnati by myself to meet up with Ghost2K who miracled me that day with a wonderful Trey Anastasio ticket. A great time was had, because after 30 seconds I came to the realization that Neil is the same person in real life as on the board. I guess I just couldn’t figure out what it was really going to be like. Then came Wakarusa where about a dozen of us all came together and partied and bonded like we were old friends. Because, we were I guess. -

How amazing is that vine where you can get most every Phish show around in two nice packages. Incredibly handy for a new comer. I wish I had something like that when I first got into the band. This place is a huge part of my life and am so thankful I stumbled upon it. I haven’t met any of you, but I feel like I know a lot of you so well. I’m not sure if you get that at too many other “fucking Internet websites”.
I generally have a great time and reading through everything on here and hearing what everyone has to say. It does take up a lot of my time, especially in the winter. I really have nothing to do in the winter but sit at the computer and do my homework. So, this place comes in handy when I’m pissed off at my family and don’t want to talk to anyone else. And I thank everyone for being here for that. The winter is really starting to get at me and I’m just waiting for it to be over so I can get off the computer and do things outside. Not too much longer…not much…
