I’ve never heard a complete Gamehenge before, but I just downloaded the studio version and Gamehoist show. Somebody tell which I should listen to first.
i just found out that a studio version exists about a week ago when Buster posted it on here.
the only complete Gamehendge i’ve ever heard was which ever one it is where the lead into it with NO2 and Trey talks about a dentist office or something. I don’t know, Will sent it to me.
it was sweet though
well its not really a studio version
^what is it then?
It’s a four track demo recording that trey recorded for his senior thesis at goddard.
^recorded in a studio of some kind though, no?
yes
ok; therefore, it is a “Studio version” of Gamehendge.
No.
If I’m not mistaken, a “studio” refers to a place that is designed for optimal acoustics. A “four track” is just a machine that allows you to record four tracks either simultaneously or separately no matter where you are, hence the quality of the recording. “hisssssssssssssssssssssssssssss”
Either that or I am pissing up the wrong tree.
sigh
ok, we’ll just refer to it as “the version of Gamehendge that took place in a controlled recording environment with no audience, properly rehearsed, edited, revised and made into a recorded piece of music for people to hear on tape, record or disc”
that’s way easier to say than “Studio”
I’m just saying, I like to be accurate.
In the 10 years of knowing about TMWSIY, I’ve never heard anyone call it a “studio” recording.
gotta love TMWSIY
Oh Yes.
It is more like a studio recording than a live recording, but it is not truly a studio recording. I just call it Trey’s Thesis. Crazy college Trey and his wild stories. Excellent.
I haven’t listened to one of these shows in a long time… Gonna pop on momadave’s first show when I get home from work tonight.
just got the original trey recording at sharefreemusic.
awesome.
^Isn’t it though?
^ yes it is. the snake in the background does get old,if you want to turn it up louder.
best live cut is definitely the last one ever (1994.07.08 - Great Woods). But there’s something so “The Wall”-ish about the recorded one, the recurring musical motifs and what not are awesome (exp. right before wilson, when treys explaining mr palmers situation, page turns from the happy motif of mcgrupp and right into the darkness of the wilson chords, pure musical mastery)
Just had a long road trip today and listened to 3-22-93 the whole way through. WOW. SO great
