First of all, let me welcome you all to the new Oh Kee Pa. I am very excited about this move and the potential it holds for our community.
I have made this thread to answer a few questions that I have been asked numerous times by different members.
How do I change my Username? How did you get that amazing colour? (Yes, colour.)
Your Username and colour can be changed at any time from your User Control Panel (UCP) which is found in the top left of your screen. Once in your UCP, head to the Profile tab and adjust settings accordingly. Please bear in mind that your Username is the name you will sign in to the board with and is case sensitive. Changing your name to something like ~KOOLPhIsHhEaD2009~ is not recommended for this reason because:
a)You’ll have to remember exactly how you typed it to begin with.
b)You’ll have to type it in every time you want to login.
c)People will think you are a bit of a tit.
This place looks so sterile and boring, when can we get our skins back?
Before we add any skins (called styles now, get with the times people) it is more important and essential that I first get everything in place in terms of fixing errors and adding features. It’ll only mean more work in the long run if we jump in and make everything look pretty straight away and I don’t want to do this arse about face. Be patient and this place will look better than it has ever done.
Where is feature X? Where is the cool gizmo that we used to have on the old board?
If you think of something that you feel is missing from the board or that you would like to see here, then please tell me. Don’t, however, tell me by posting it in random places all over the board where I will not be able to keep track of what needs fixing and when it was requested. Do tell me by posting in the following topic:
If we keep things organised, we will know where we stand and a better experience will be had all around.
What the hell is user9510blahblahblah.co.uk all about?
For the time being, ohkeepa.com will point to the old inactive board so that people can login, see the PM I sent and follow the instructions in order to move across here as easily as possible. In a few days time, I will change the URL to point here instead.
Where’s our chat room gone?
The chat is now at the bottom of the main page. You can also access it by clicking on Chat at the top right of your window.
The board isn’t up to date! It’s missing posts!
I backed up the board on the 17th of September and the process took 6 hours to save information to a file ready for importing here. The posts made from the 17th through to the 20th on the old board will not appear here and will most likely never appear here. I don’t want to risk running another conversion and potentially corrupting the information we have here already.
The board just crapped out on me and a weird install directory message came up!
Some modifications that I implement require an install folder to be created in the database. If this folder is present then the board will display a message and posting will not be possible. The good news is that a lot of the time this doesn’t even happen when installing modifications and when it does, it only takes a few minutes for me to finish.
As we rapidly approach our 5 year anniversary, I’d like to thank you all for making this such a friendly, charming place. I know I’ve had my absence but I’m over the moon and genuinely excited to be back around and taking the Pa into the future. Let’s keep on truckin’, welcoming new members on board as we go and continuing to be the strongest, most positive Phish presence on the megaweb. We have built a strong community here and I’m proud to be a part of it. Long live the Oh Kee Pa.
