Quite a good game against Indiana by the Gophers last night. Those poor Gophers had them but, again, the greater talent really was JUST enough to beat them out.
I’m doubly bummed because a loss to Indiana would have helped the Spartans plus now Minnesota will be all pissed and they’ll take it out on the Spartans who get to go to the Barn this Saturday.
I think Indiana IS legit since DJ White and Gordan are legit talent but I don’t think they’ll be world beaters in the tournament or anything. Still, they’re easily the best in the Big Ten right now. Minnesota I think is VERY well coached and Tubby’s got them playing some super tough defense…I’m not surprised that they gave Indiana a game. There’s a number of middle-of-the-road teams like OSU, Minnesota, Iowa and Purdue who seem like they’ll be better at the end of the year than they are now. That could be one crazy Big Ten tournament.

My dad, a staunch supporter of Purdue athletics (graduating from there in '77) and thus an avid anti-IU guy, has actually said these phrases in the past 4 months:

Al Borland much to my disdain I can understand your hatred for Indiana Basketball. I’m in the opposite corner as I’m a graduate from the greatest institution in Indiana in 2003. Come on there has got to be some better jabs then making fun of they way D.J. White looks. Your leaving the door wide open for numersous insults at current and past Boilers (Keady, Linc Darner, Rob Foster,etc…). I also wanted to comment about that fact that your not sure if Indiana has beaten anyone. Well they have. Everyone on their schedule except for Xavier, which is a legit squad. Yeah there are some cupcakes in their, but there are some decent to good teams that the Hoosiers have beat. I wouldn’t count this Indiana team out as going through the Big Ten season will prepare them for the tournament. I don’t think they are as good as like a UNC, Memphis, Kansas on a talent level from top to bottom, but often times matchups are the key in the tournament. If they can get a favorable draw and play good ball watch out.

And yeah…that crying UNC girl was hilarious…I mean what the hell are you crying about? It’s just one loss and you’re still probably going to be a #1 seed in the tourney anyway. Holy crap. Fantastic game though it just shows that Roy William teams never play defense. They just had Clemson, GA Tech and Maryland all throw down close to 80 on them in concecutive games. I thought they were better defensively but there’s issues. Still, it also shows how tough the ACC is…those teams can play.
And the Spartans won and very close and tough game at Minnesota which I am pleased with…the Gophers played it tough at State so I was worried about a road game. Plus Neitzel finally had a good game shooting so hopefully he’ll get back on track. Go State.

Wisconsin vs. Purdue.
A Purdue win here will will really raise some eyebrows around the country, showing these youngsters are capable of beating a quality opponent. Not to mention it will vault them into 2nd in the Big Ten standings behind those fuck sticks in Bloomington.

wow, what a heated game! must’ve been 50 personal fouls called (and many more not called). it was neck and NECK for the first 2/3 of the game too before duke pulled away. i couldn’t believe the intensity…can’t wait for carolina!!!
oh, and Deron Washington proved that Greg Paulus is not the biggest actor/flopper in the NCAA
