Ouch. The Spartans lose to Penn State on the road. Not good. I can’t even blame the Spartans a lot since Penn State played a fantastic game. They were making all their shots, getting turnovers and getting the ball inside when they needed to. The Spartans weren’t that bad but they really needed Neitzel to get some keep buckets and he couldn’t. He’s been inconsistent all year.

Still, the refs were very annoying since they called constant fouls anytime two big guys bumped into each other while going for a rebound. It’s like they never saw a Big Ten before. Yes, refs, guys may bump each other while rebounding…it’s okay to let it go. Penn State went on a 9-2 run to win the game…and basically all of it was at the free throw line. There was a foul on basically every possession during crunchtime. Kind of killed an otherwise good game.

That may be it for the Spartan’s shot at a Big Ten title. We have @Purdue, @Wisconsin and @Indiana coming up and they could easily lose any of those. I expect Wisconsin or Indiana to make it through with two or three Big ten losses and take the title.

Great to see Dickie V back baby!!!
Big game tonight with the Hoosiers and Illinois. It could be tough with the whole Gordon situation and the fact that IU struggled against these guys in Bloomington. Must win as IU has to keep one loss like Wisconsin and Purdue. I gotta admit IU has not impressed me lately, but as they say you don’t want to be playing your best basketball in February.

Jay Bilas said it best last night: With a healthy Ty Lawson, UNC is clearly a better team.

But not last night, Duke played exceptional.
It was the biggest game in the ACC so far.

This Saturday’s showdown in Madison will be the Big Ten’s biggest game so far.

i was driving into work this morning and the sky was especially beautiful. there was a wide blanket of deep, rich, royal blue clouds obscuring a clear background of baby blue. the colors themselves were so crisp and clear but it was the contrast that made it beautiful.

i am so proud of the dukies for the way they played last night. i was jumping out of my chair, screaming at the refs, cursing every time we didn’t box out or made a turnover (OR MISSED A GOD DAMNED FREE THROW - JESUS CHRIST, COME ON HENDERSON AND NELSON!!!), but at least the guys on the floor kept their cool. i’m sure it’ll be a different story a month from now in cameron with ty lawson back, but i have a feeling it’ll be another thriller.

props to lance thomas for steppin it up when it matters most.

anyway, so ends another chapter. welcome back dickie V

Wow, that UNC game just said it all about both teams. Duke can play defense. UNC doesn’t play defense. Classic Coach K team. Classic Roy Williams team. Still, what a fantastic atmosphere especially in the first half…that crowd was hot. And even though I only like him in small doses, it just felt right hearing Dickie V ranting on and on during a Duke/UNC game.

Second half, UNC just could NOT stop Duke from scoring. That’s been their issue with many teams. It’s going to bite them in the ass in the tournament eventually. I still have no idea how Roy Williams ever won a title…with teams that consistently do not defend, he shouldn’t have ever been able to do it. Oh well. Still, a VERY impressive win by the Dukies even if they needed 1,286 three-pointers to do it. I can’t say they’re my big favorite to win it all but, then again, I don’t think there ARE any really big favorites. I don’t trust Bill Self’s coaching in big games and you never know with Memphis since they have such a soft conference.
