Spare me, Michigan fans. Just take a look at your basketball team and shut up. Yes, that’s right…you guys DO have a basketball team even though you do your best to ignore it. Your losses alone are bringing down the entire conference. Only Michigan would rip on a team fthat’s made the National Title game twice in a row and been beaten by them year after year.
But hey, Michigan fans…be happy since Michigan beat App State in wrestling over the weekend. SWEET, SWEET REVENGE!!!
And I don’t buy this “division is down” crap…not that it’s not true since the SEC has been better for decades but people say it EVERY year to the point where it’s a cliche…OSU could have won last night and I’d still hear the same “Big Ten sucks” crap every year. Not to mention the “SEC just has more speed” argument is pathetic as well…please make it stop. If anything, this is the most balanced the Big Ten has been in a while. I mean the usual doormats in the division in MSU, Northwestern, Indiana, and Illinois are actual legit contenders and could potentially pose a threat to the big teams. Not to mention that Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin are still pretty strong. People always rant that “top-to-bottom” the SEC is better, but isn’t that the case of the Big Ten right now? It’s worth thinking about.
I’ll agree on Big Ten basketball though…a LOT of teams are down. Aside from MSU (GO STATE!) and Indiana, there’s really no one else who is really a contender. (Though watch out for Minnesota…Tubby Smith scares me). Though, to be fair…there’s a LOT of rebuilding…Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois have all lost players…it’s a strange year compared to last year. Plus it’s a strange thing to say when a Big Ten team finds its way to the Final Four almost every year.
And OSU blew the National Title game twice in a row by playing that soft zone. Notice they did well against LSU until they started throwing a lot? That’s why. SEC teams do well against that tough zone and by using it both Florida and LSU had no problem tearing it apart. It’s not an issue of one division being better…it’s just Tressel’s poor choice of defense.
