The Official 2007 NCAA Football Thread

I was definitely cheering for Central Michigan since I, well, live here and figured I’d pull for the underdog. I’m not one of those folks who has all this loyalty to the Big Ten…who cares what the media thinks of them. I don’t. I cheer against all these teams when MSU plays them anyway.

As for CMU, you’re right, Dan LeFevour is a total stud. And the best part…he’s just a sophomore!! And he’s putting up Tim Tebow-like numbers at a frickin MAC school. Watch out for him in the NFL in a few years…these MAC quarterbacks have a habit of being successful in the pros since they’re used to making things work despite not having superior talent. Just ask ben Roethlisberger.

And everyone check out Michigan State in their first bowl game in YEARS against Boston College. BC’s definitely a little bit out of our league but I think State can hang with them and make it work…MSU’s run game is simply awesome. Sadly, i wish the game wasn’t on at 5pm but oh well…I’ll be at the bar right after work. GO STATE!!!

I hope Penn State kicks the shit out of Texas Agricultural & Mechanical!

^^^^those boobs are way, way, way too big.

Get out.

I’m serious. Get the hell out of this thread.

And don’t come back!

Anyone see the Illinois Band perform Stairway to Heaven at half time? I never pictured Stairway to Heaven as a half time show…

^I saw that. Seemed weird but the band played it very well. I’d say it’s about the ONLY thing that Illinois did well in that game. Even worse is during any USC blowout, the announcers run out of things to say so the entire game becomes one long Pete Carroll ass-kissing show. It’s ridiculous. Aside from Brett Farve, no one gets his ass kissed by the national media more than Pete Carroll. I especially love when they called him a good “game time coach.” Look, he makes some great teams but I can’t remember him ever making any adjustments in a game ever aside from maybe passing some more. Apparently these announcers forgot about his various coaching meltdowns against Texas a few years ago or his entire career in the NFL. By the way…LAST year before the season, USC was heavily favored as the #1 team, then screwed up against some lesser teams and missed the Title game, then looked great at the end of the year until all media was blowing them constantly, destroyed a Big Ten team in the Rose Bowl and was favored as the #1 team at the start of this season. Now THIS year?..USC was heavily favored as the #1 team, then screwed up against some lesser teams and missed the Title game, then looked great at the end of the year until all media was blowing them constantly, destroyed a Big Ten team in the Rose Bowl and will likely be favored as the #1 team at the start of next season. Go figure…

And seriously, Penn State people…why did everyone get in some stupid uproar over a frickin MALE cheerleader making some stupid casket comment about Joe Paterno? Is anyone supposed to care what a male cheerleader has to say? And who the heck films a pep rally anyway? That whole story was retarded.

The Florida/Michigan game was probably the best game I’ve seen so far…just lotsa fun. I couldn’t cheer for Michigan of course but I’ve got to say that I didn’t mind seeing Tebow get taken down a notch or two. How funny that when he had to actually drop back and pass like any normal quarterback, he couldn’t do it. Hmmmm…

Stevo

I genuinely forgot the BCS Championship game was tonight until I heard M&M talking about it this morning.

I’ll be watching and rooting - only b/c they are a B10 team - for Ohio State.

I don’t think it is going to be the blowout everyone is predicting.

OSU 23
LSU 17

2-0 LSU

I took out at $25 future on LSU back in the summer and it just paid $275.

Nice!

I don’t think B10 football has ever had a worse reputation than it does now, thanks primarily to Illinois and OSU.

Fuck rooting for the Big 10…this WAS the Ohio State!

GO BLUE!!!

Don’t forget Michigan’s choke job from Week 1 either. The Big 10 conference is as overrated as they get. I wouldn’t even limit that statement to football either. Big 10 basketball is pretty weak too. You may have a couple good teams at the top but that’s it.

^why you gotta bring up old shit?

yes, I’ll admit that the Big Ten had been meh as of late… the entire college football system is cyclical.

And as far as THE U of M is concerned, yah that was a shitty start and end to our season, but at least we can beat an SEC team!!!

Spare me, Michigan fans. Just take a look at your basketball team and shut up. Yes, that’s right…you guys DO have a basketball team even though you do your best to ignore it. Your losses alone are bringing down the entire conference. Only Michigan would rip on a team fthat’s made the National Title game twice in a row and been beaten by them year after year.

But hey, Michigan fans…be happy since Michigan beat App State in wrestling over the weekend. SWEET, SWEET REVENGE!!!

And I don’t buy this “division is down” crap…not that it’s not true since the SEC has been better for decades but people say it EVERY year to the point where it’s a cliche…OSU could have won last night and I’d still hear the same “Big Ten sucks” crap every year. Not to mention the “SEC just has more speed” argument is pathetic as well…please make it stop. If anything, this is the most balanced the Big Ten has been in a while. I mean the usual doormats in the division in MSU, Northwestern, Indiana, and Illinois are actual legit contenders and could potentially pose a threat to the big teams. Not to mention that Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin are still pretty strong. People always rant that “top-to-bottom” the SEC is better, but isn’t that the case of the Big Ten right now? It’s worth thinking about.

I’ll agree on Big Ten basketball though…a LOT of teams are down. Aside from MSU (GO STATE!) and Indiana, there’s really no one else who is really a contender. (Though watch out for Minnesota…Tubby Smith scares me). Though, to be fair…there’s a LOT of rebuilding…Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois have all lost players…it’s a strange year compared to last year. Plus it’s a strange thing to say when a Big Ten team finds its way to the Final Four almost every year.

And OSU blew the National Title game twice in a row by playing that soft zone. Notice they did well against LSU until they started throwing a lot? That’s why. SEC teams do well against that tough zone and by using it both Florida and LSU had no problem tearing it apart. It’s not an issue of one division being better…it’s just Tressel’s poor choice of defense.

Stevo

Spare me, Stevo. Just take a look at the title of this thread.

NCAA FOOTBALL

It’s cool, I know those MSU educations don’t always pay off.

How’d the Spartans fare this year with the old pigskin?

Couldn’t beat a Big East team?

ouch.

See you in Ann Arbor in the fall. And just use mapquest, I know the directions from East Lansing (aka Shitsville) to A squared become very difficult to those sparty fans.

/rant

Go Pistons anyway Stevo!

Whooooooa, Nellie!

BRAVO.

::claps twice, slowly::

Look at that…you won’t even MENTION the UM basketball team. You’re so ashamed. Have fun ignoring college basketball this year.

Not bad. We didn’t lose to any Division II teams.

This coming from a team who just grabbed a money-hungry Big East coach?

Ouch indeed. Hope you like when Richer Rodriguez bails on you guys for an NFL job in five years. He lied and deceived his own alma mater…what do think he’ll do to you guys?

It’s easy…I just look out the window for ugly women and I know I’m there.

So true.

Stevo

This is completely and utterly insane.
