The Official 2007 NFL Thread!

LIONS ARE 6-2!!! HOLY CRAP!! Not to mention it’s the first time we’ve actually blown out a team since 1964!! Holy crap!! Seriously, what a great game by the Lions owning Denver on both sides of the ball. And seeing 340-lb Shaun Rogers rumbling down the field for a 60-yard INT return was one of the funniest plays I’ve seen in a long time…it was especially great seeing Selvin Young catch up to him and yet have no chance of bringing him down cuz he’s so huge. Check it out:

The only play funnier than that was two years ago when Rogers got a fumble by the Saints and had both the quarterback AND one of the receivers for the Saints clinging to him and he dragged them both with him into the endzone. Just priceless.

It’s so nice to actually look FORWARD to watching the Lions every week.

As for Colts/Pats…it was a good game but didn’t blow me away. And I can’t say I’m that surprised that the Pats had trouble since it’s the first time they’ve played a legit defense all year long. I really thought the Pats were done too. Brady looked bad and threw some bad picks, the Colts defenders looked VERY fast by comparison and I figured the Colts could run enough time to make a comeback difficult. Give Brady credit…he made the throws and got the TDs and won it. That’s the difference between him in Peyton who just flung the ball away at the end.

The most depressing thing?..I think we all missed what was a MUCH better game in Seattle/Cleveland…I at least got to see the overtime but I have a feeling it was better.

And how’d you like to be at that Vikings game?..See two huge records get broken in one game. Just imagine if the Vikes had a QB.

Stevo

Here Here Steve! Since i had Hasselbeck on my FFB i watched the Browns vs Seahawks game instead of hypebowl 2007! I actually went back and forth but the Fox game was more entertaining. I am very happy about the Lions this year and yes it is nice to want to watch the games. The best thing about it all is it’s not just the passing game that is helping us win games it’s the defense! kevin jones coming back is also great but we did play a lackluster rushing defense at home. We were 6-2 in 1999 and finished 8-8. Keep hope alive!

Go Browns!

The game was amazing.

My sweater on the inside was keeping me warm throughout.

D’oh!

I watched every snap and to tell the truth, I did notice a few “skips” in the sound. I just assumed it was CBS, though.

I also muted the game and turned on the radio to listen to the Indy station but there was about a 5-10 second delay. I’m not sure if this is normal or not, but it probably is.

I’m hoping these accusations are unfounded and false, but who knows.

I clicked on the link, but its not there anymore.

Maybe you could give us the jist of it?

If you cut and paste the entire link into a browser it should work.

Basically the CBS broadcast showed a few “skips” in sounds. I don’t really know what that has to do with piping in sound into the stadium.

This is something other teams have mentioned too.

Brady said he couldn’t hear anything out on the field.

Here’s an alternate link with a better explanation.

GO LIONS!!!

Jonathan Kraft can lick my taint!

NFL says Patriots claim of extra crowd noise unsubstantiated

ESPN.com news services

Updated: November 5, 2007, 3:21 PM ET

The NFL says no artificial crowd noise was pumped into the RCA Dome on Sunday during the New England-Indianapolis game, despite claims otherwise by Patriots team president Jonathan Kraft.

“CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts telecast was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Monday. “It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium.”

Yahoo! Sports reported earlier that the NFL was looking into charges Kraft made after Sunday’s 24-20 New England win. Kraft told NFL vice president of security Milt Ahlerich – the same man involved in confiscating the Patriots’ videotape made in a Week 2 game against the New York Jets that cost Belichick $500,000, the Patriots $250,000 and a first-round draft pick – that he felt there was extra noise in the stadium.

Aiello said, according to Yahoo!: “We’re aware of it and we’re looking into it. It may just be the TV feed from CBS, but we’re checking it out.”

Monday, he said that was indeed the case.

Kraft is the latest in a line of people who have accused the Colts of enhancing crowd noise in their domed stadium. It has never been proven.

Neil, it seems like this might be bothering you.

More of a fascination, really.

The whole mystique surrounding this rivalry is interesting to me.

This rivalry has taken on legendary status.

In ALL of sports (collegiate included), this is right near the top when discussing great rivalries.

Really?

I had no idea.

^
I didn’t either, until this week.

Wow, I just noticed that the Steelers are 6-2, and could easily be 7-1 or even 8-0. They lost on a last second field goal to Denver, and somehow lost to Arizona (a game they probably “should” have won.

I think it is safe to say they are the third-best team in the AFC. Not quite as good as Dallas, but probably a little better than NYG and Green Bay.

Eff the Steelers.

In all seriousness, if CLE can find a way to put the opening-week bitchslap by PIT behind them and win at Heinz field this weekend, they’ll be tied for the lead in the AFC North!

Maybe the “mistake by the lake” is all in the past.

Put it behind us?

We put it behind us 2 days after that game.

Does anyone remember Charlie Frye?

Hey Neil-e-O. Have you noticed that since you changed your avatar, the Colts are 0 - 2??

just sayin…

Dude, I came in here to same the exact same thing.

That loss was hard to swallow last night. After all the bullshit from the refs/returns/ints they still had a chance to win!!! Vinatieri still hasn’t hit a clutch kick for the Colts. Granted, he hit 5 fg against the Ravens in the playoffs last year but he hasn’t hit a game winner yet. Very unfortunate. Oh well, I’d be more worried if I was a Chargers fan. 10 pts off of 5 turnovers is pretty weak.

The Colts have between 8 and 10 starters out right now. Yikes. Hopefully they can rest up a little against KC and @ Atl the next couple weeks.

Yeah I never really thought about how he hasn’t technically kicked a “game-winner” yet, but it is true. I was playing pool at the bar last night during the second half so I couldn’t hear the game, but I saw a play where a Colts player picked off a pass in the end zone and ran it back but they spotted it at the 20 for some reason. From what I could tell, the ball never hit the ground.

They might be the most banged-up team in the NFL right now. I hope they get healthy. I don’t care what their record is, as long as they get in the playoffs. I have confidence that if they are healthy, they can go anywhere and beat anyone with the possible exception of NE.

I’m leaving my avatar, btw.
