The Official 2007 NFL Thread!

Packers and Cowboys! THAT will be a great game.

Come on Ghost loosin the faith…How about Colts Jags?

It will be an important game, no doubt about it. Especially if Tennessee can beat Denver tonight. That will put some heat on the Colts in the AFC South.

Boy Pittsburgh’s loss yesterday may have cost them a #2 seed.

I got Penguin. what?

And improved the Pats’ chances in the Niner’s First Round Pick Sweepstakes. Everyone’s helping our cause!

It’s a sad day in new england, The c’s lost and the Revolution lost the mls championship game 2-1 (I’m sure it was a real thriller) what ever will us poor New England fans hang our hat on today ::sobs uncontrolably::

^
Espn.com is doing this idiotic thing where it tracks and compares this year’s Celtics to the 96 Bulls (72-10). Boston will have 10 loses by mid-January.

It’s absurd.

Yeah, The Media(ESPN in particular) gets carried away quick.

But I gotta admit, I’ve watched that Celtics team 3 times, and they are fun.

And theyre adding some juice to a league that really needs it

I’m with you. I frickin LOVE Gus Johnson. He’s by FAR the best announcer we’ve got out there. He’s great doing the NFL and he’s even better doing March Madness and other college games. All hail Gus Johnson.

And Lions…ug. What a debacle. Kitna has 377 yards and somehow only gets 1 TD out of it…explain THAT one. I was encouraged by the Lions defense, though…they’re still showing up every week. The Lions clearly have no frickin run game and it’s showing since these defenses always know how to play the Lions. BLAARG. Technically the Lions are still alive for a Wild Card. They’ve got to hold off the Redskins and Seattle/Arizona for that last spot but they’ve GOT to win this game Thursday against the Packers to do it. They’ve got a shot.

And isn’t this nice?..With the Lions playing better you guys actually get a WATCHABLE Lions game on Thanksgiving!! Hurray!!

And seriously…now the Pats are just mocking us all. There’s virtually no doubt in my mind that Belichick saw TO score four TDs and immediately decided to do the same for Moss…and then did it. This is getting ridiculous. I went from liking the Pats to hating them for running up the score and now I’m liking them again for mocking the entire frickin league (plus having Wes Welker on my fantasy team doesn’t hurt). At least the Lions don’t play them.

And yeah…the Celtics thing is nice and I predicted that it might not be that fraudulant since the East is SO bad, but just remember…Doc Rivers is their coach. Just keep saying that no matter happens with that team. Doc Rivers is the coach. He’ll ruin it somehow.

was anyone else yelling at the tv as much as boomer was when they originally called the cleveland game tying field goal no good?

i don’t know why i cared so much, but i really got into it! i really believed that they were going to say it was non-reviewable and the browns lost because of it, but fairness won through and they went to OT as they should have done.

i’ve never seen such a crazy field goal game ending/tying situation

oh, and i USED TO like boston sports teams…now i hate them all, in fact now i hate all new england teams, pro/college/womens/whatever. i hate em. they’ve had their fun, enough’s enough already. bastards

so its Packers/Cowboys

and Lions/_______? on Thanksgiving…

^
No, the Packers/Cowboys are 1 week from Thanksgiving (11/29).

On Thanksgiving, it is:

Green Bay at Detroit, 12:30 PM, FOX
NY Jets at Dallas, 4:15 PM, CBS
Indianapolis at Atlanta, 8:15 PM, NFL Network

The problem is that under the current rules it really IS non-reviewable. That’s why Billick’s griping so much about it. Of course, I don’t care if that’s the rule…what’s best is they got the call right. Though I’ll admit it must have SUCKED to be a Ravens player and be in the back taking all your equipment off then be told that the game isn’t over yet. Oh well.

And isn’t it nice that the Colts/ATL is on the NFL Network. That’s easily the least watchable of the three games and it’s on the channel that I don’t get.

^Yeah, but the real issue is when the game of the year in the NFC between The 'Boys and The Pack is on the NFL Network. The NFL and Jerry Jones are both calling on local Cable providers to provide the game for free to all viewers.

As much as I hate the regional cable monopolies, and in particular Long Islands Cablevision, who overcharge me and many others so they can line the Dolan Family fortune, while they continue to ruin the New York Institution that is Madison Square Garden, The NFL doesnt have a leg to stand on.

Every time a team or a league starts a Network, they want concessions from the Cable company to include much or all of their package as basic cable. But they’re not willing to concede any Dollars on their end. We had it here when the Yankees started the Yes network.

Do yourself a favor and ditch crappy digital cable and go with DirecTV. I order both the MLB and NFL ticket each year and its awesome. Plus, the picture is more clear, you get 70 HD channels and up to 100 HD Channels by January. It also inclused the NFL Network, Big 10 network (I wouldn’t watch it but if you are a fan of any Big 10 teams) VS, HD movie channels (free) and so on. Digital cable sucks in comparison and is usually much more expensive. I’ve only lost satellite connection 3 times in the +20 months I’ve had it. All three were during wicked rain/snow storms and it didn’t last much longer than 20-30 minutes either.

For one, the whole NFL Network thing is part of a bigger issue. The NFL is using Jerry Jones and petitioning to Congress to force some of the cable companies to carry the NFL Network. Comcast doesn’t want to put it on unless it’s part of the special Sports Tier (they’re having a battle with the Big Ten Network for the same reason). Here’s the issue…while the NFL is fighting to have the NFL Network on all cable networks, they ignore the fact that they offer the NFL Direct Ticket ONLY to DirectTV customers!! If you’re a fan of a team and don’t live in that city, you MUST get DirectTV in order to get Direct Ticket. The NFL has no problem with DirectTV having a monopoly on Direct Ticket but has a BIG problem and whines to Congress when other cable companies don’t pick up their NFL Network. Who’s the hypocrite here.

Not to mention that DirectTV is NOT perfect. If your house doesn’t have a view of the Northwest sky, then you’re screwed…you can’t get DirectTV (or you have to get a ridiculously expensive satellite extension to raise it above any trees in the area). Even worse, the dish is effected any time there’s heavy wind or storms…I know many people who just got plain sick of not being able to watch shows during storms and switched to cable.

The worst of all…in Canada and Mexico, Direct Ticket is available to ALL cable companies, no matter which provider you have! That’s right…only in the US does DirectTV have the monopoly on Direct Ticket. Probably because only in the US are politicians in DirectTV’s pocket to prevent the obvious monopoly that they have in this situation.

Not that I’m saying one side is right or one side is wrong but the NFL’s being hypocritical in what it’s doing. Maybe the cable companies who won’t take the NFL Network are sick of DirectTV having the monopoly on Direct Ticket. Something to think about…

What did everyone think of the games yesterday?

Green Bay looked sharp, as did the Cowboys. Next week’s showdown (unfortunately on NFL Network) should be a dandy.

The Colts at least looked like a shell of their former selves. It was broadcast on the NFL Network but the local NBC station out of Indy was able to simulcast it, so I got to see it.

Ugh, I hate the cowboys and I hated the halftime shows!

That’s what I thought. Nothing much else.
