Good post El Bastarde. I agree with about everything on your post. I’m not sure about your comparison with the San Diego and Detroit analyogy. I actually think Marinelli is a decent coach. They just have to break that losing mentality up there. They have good players, but seriously I think they need to start over on Defense. I know they were great at producing turnovers, but they definitely need to draft D this year. No more WRs.
I’m a Brett Favre fan, but he does get a free pass from the media. It’s just hard not to like the guy. He has made countless mistakes over his career, but those seemed to be swept under the rug.
Anyways I’m definitely pulling for the Giants as I’m a huge Colt fan, which means that I absolutely hate the Patriots and I guess I have to pull for Peyton’s brother.

And I’m allowed to dislike Favre cuz he’s been killing the Lions for a decade and a half. Death to Favre. Plus he annoyingly gets a free pass for his errors while other QBs are raked over the coals by the media. It’s shameless. Favre himself isn’t that bad. Great guy and all that.
And I predict that the Lions take Kentucky QB Andre Woodson in the draft this year. Why take a QB? Because it makes the least sense. That’s the Lions.

I think drafting a QB would make since. Jon Kitna is okay and all, but he is not going to get you to the next level. Andre Woodson looks like he cold be decent. Personally I’d rather have Brian Brohm, buy you never know. I know Lions fans worry about drafting a QB #1 after the Harrinton situation. If you can find a QB the level of a Woodson at #15 I think that would be pretty solid. Then draft Defense the rest of the way. This is just an outsiders perspective. Take it for what’s it worth.
We need to sucker Cleveland into selling us Brady Quinn cheap. then if he turns out to stink we can dump him quicker than Joey since we did not invest that much to begin with. Then we can use our draft pick to get someone who can block!

he’s shown signs he can handle a simple offense, inconsistently though. He’ll need a lot more around him (yes, even more than having the most talented running back in the league). We need a couple solid receivers if we have a chance to make a run with him.
In the end I don’t see it working. We’ll probably miss the playoffs again next year, Childress will be fired, and we will go a different direction at QB… But who knows maybe I’m wrong. We’ll see. Its hard being positive as a Viqueens fan.

Feb/March is a good time if you’re REALLY into college basketball. Lots of good conference games going on.
Indeeeeed!! I’m already out of my football mode and I’m well into college b-ball (and the NBA stuff too!). That tides me over until March, then we get NBA and NHL playoffs. Then when that’s done?..depression kicks in.
Uh oh…Mario Manningham is coming out from Michigan!! A match made in heaven!!! We all know Millen’s “scouting” consists of him watching local games in Michigan. We have Drew Stanton and Charles Rogers from MSU, Jeff Backus from Michigan and Dan Orlovsky because his UConn team just HAPPENED to play in the Motor City Bowl right before the Lions drafted him. It’s perfect.
Yeah right. Quinn will be a greater bust than Joey. At least Joey won a couple Bowl games in college. Amazing how no one ever noticed that Quinn was inaccurate in college and only put up those numbers because he threw the ball 50 times a game. What we should really do is hope Cleveland goes retarded and keeps Quinn and shops Derek Anderson.
Either way, drafting a QB is horrendous idea because it’s not addressing needs. We have a horrendous O-Line, shitty linebackers (except Sims) and virtually no secondary. A new rookie QB will just get sacked just as much as Kitna.
Even worse are the rumors now that the Dolphins will shop the #1 pick and that Parcells has always liked Shaun Rogers (there are rumors that he’ll be traded). If Millen has the #1 pick, it’s a virtual lock that he’ll ignore needs and draft McFadden who will do nothing behind that shitty O-Line. Ahhh, the Lions.
