I think today is media day at the SB.
Meh. Makes me wonder how many players’ answers are scripted/coached.

I love how the Pats and Belichick have been mocking the media about this Brady leg thing. They’re having the funnest time and the media’s just freaking out and thinking it’s a big deal or something. The best was Donte Stallworth telling the media that he may be the QB and that they’ll bring in Tom Osborne to run the option in the Super Bowl. Hilarious.

BWAHAHA!
Fun with Super Bowl photos from a new sports blog I just started reading:

^LOL! I especially love Jared Lorenzen who may be the first and last fat quarterback. I remember I couldn’t believe it when I saw him play at Kentucky. The best was watching him scramble and it would take like two or three tacklers to take him down…and he’s a QB. All hail the hefty lefty!

Here’s another one for ya Stevo:

To me, Chris Berman has always seemed like kind of a dickwad.
When mentioning my favorite sports blogs, for some reason I always forget about this one: http://www.withleather.com/
You know the “with leather” back story, right?
“With leather”? I feel like I should know this, but could you please enlighten me?
Basically Berman was in a bar somewhere and in the middle of some guy flirting with some girl (wearing leather) he interrupted and said to the girl “You’re with me, leather.” The woman just got up and left with Berman, apparently.
I used to use a similar line on lot chics!
“Your with me, patchwork”
Frank Zappa is a big fan of “with leather?” Check out Joe’s Garage… actually, the groupie likes it.
Yeah, this is what I thought of when I saw the “with leather” reference.
And I’ve heard Berman’s actually a VERY nice guy in person…he must have had a bad day on that clip. HA HA.
Anyway, my Super Bowl pick. I feel bad since I picked the Giants to “cover, but not win” against the Packers and Cowboys. That’s a wishy-washy stupid pick since you never pick a team to cover unless you think they can win outright. But…I can’t pick the Pats to lose. How can you? But I think it’ll be a close game since the Giants D is good enough to keep it close…they’ve got four fast guys who can rush the QB and make that O-Line tired. So, I’ll say it again…Giants cover but don’t win. Someone kill me.
Either way, watch for the Pats to come out running. They’ll know that the Giants D has been scratching their heads for two weeks on how to stop Brady…the Pats will come out running to totally screw with their defensive scheme. The Colts did the same thing against the Bears in last year’s Super Bowl.

Does anyone think the Giants can win? I just don’t see that happening. I don’t think the Pats will roll but could be much like the Eagles/Pats SB a few years back. It was close but never were the Eagles truly in control. Much like every team that has faced the Pats this year who had it close. They appear to have control for a spell but then the Pats roll. How the hell do you stop them? I think Bellachick (I’ve never spelled that guys name!) is a robot and he’s got that team programmed. There can be a glitch in the system from time to time… a new virus here and there, disrupt things, even lose (last year to the Colts) but they corrected that glitch and haven’t freaking lost since. The Giants are rolling on heart and luck.
That being said the SB is the biggest commercial piece of crap ever! I can enjoy the game but the whole thing is more about sensationalism and cheap beer and soft drinks and other ghey things its virtually unbearable to watch.
THAT being said I will be tuning in while I work at the nursing home… and if the Pats will I promise I will twirl my pEn15 in celebration. ;D
I think the Giants can win.
I liken this to the SB in 2002. No one was giving the Patriots a snowball’s chance in hell against the “Greatest show on turf” (St. Louis). What happened? AV, last second field goal for the upset.
And Tynes is going to be that clutch kicker, when he needed 3 tries to put away the Packers? Or is it just that the Giants are huge underdogs, and thus have a shot at the upset?
I think at best the Giants can keep it close. The week 17 game wasn’t as close as it appeared due to the kick return. If that didn’t happen it would have been a much different game. Sure, they could have still scored with that possession, but the instant comeback of the return gave the Giants some much needed emotion. Also, this is the first game in almost two months that the Pats will be playing in good weather. That may be true for the Giants as well, but the Pats thrived in good weather, when they could heave it downfield all game. I’ll think there will be a lot of running on the Pats part, but the option will be there.
Brady------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->Moss
Now c’mon Neil. Cereally. It will be a fluke if the Giants win. Flukes happen but this Pat team so fine tuned fageddabotit. That St. Louis team was a quick rise and fall. This Pats team has worked on this all decade. This is no work of God or whatever the Rams QB accredited their one SB victory. This is a fine tuned winning machine wrought of time, disciple, and talent. 18-0 doesn’t happen by mistake.
^just look at Poster up there. Determination Neil. Determination.
I think the Giants are gonna win. Plaxico needs to play though, they need everyone. Osi Yumenyiora will have 25 tackles, 12 sacks, 8 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, and 2 fumbles returned for TD’s.
^I think that post belongs in the ‘drunk/sonted thread’
Would be worth 100 points in scrabble!
The difference between these Patriots and other Goliath’s heading ionto the bowl is they do not expect to win. I think it was Ricky Prohel who said the rams were on there way to a dynasty in 2002? HA! These Pats have the mentality of an underdog and us vs the world, even with all the media and fans on their nuts all the time. I have a feeling this game will resemble the Pats vs Redskins game earlier this year!
My prediction: plenty of ads for Prince Caspian. The children in the fields are sewing seeds and chafing wheat.
