The Official 2007 NFL Thread!

^Have you hit up the ‘Im Drunk/Stoned’ Thread today.

You should prolly stop by there when u get the chance.

ah I’m just breaking Neil’s balls, which comes from my jealousy of him having a real NFL team as his favorite team.

but you’re right, I should get stoned.

At least you “have” a baseball team to root for.

Although the Indianapolis Indians have a great stadium and have had some decent years recently.

Nothing like the big leagues, though.

:frowning:

Queens request.

She wanted the English-folk to see what a real sport is.

Now, BACK TO CRICKET!

go Dolphins!

How weird would it be for a team to be the first since the '72 Dolphins to go undefeated in the regular season the same year that the Dolphins go winless?

I don’t see a team going 16-0, and I certainly don’t see a team going 0-16. It’s harder to do the latter.

^Damn it all, I was listening to sports radio the other day and they said the same thing. HOW is it harder to go 0-16??

Me no get it.

Think about it.

In the NFL, and all sports really, it is hard to assemble a professional collection of talent that can’t win at least one game on their schedule. There is too much parity.

I believe Tampa Bay (another FL team!) lost the first 26 games in its franchise history over a period of 2 years. Which is pretty unbelievable if you think about it. But that was 30 years ago.

It won’t happen this day and age.

Plus, some teams near the end of the season rest players who are injured (if the team’s season is lost) or for the playoffs.

The Dolphins have 2 potential playoff teams in their last 3 games.

Also, that same TB franchise is the only franchise in NFL history to never have returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Think about that for a second.

How the hell is that possible?

^Yah, I agree, but I think Bellichick is the type of coach that will try for the 16- 0 season, especially after yesterday slaughter of the skins. Why the fuck would you not rest Brady the week before the big game when you’re up by 35 in the 4th?

Oh I agree. I definitely think if the Pats are still undefeated they will try to bury the Dolphins. Regardless of where they stand in terms of playoff seeding.

But a team that is 0-13 or 0-14 is not a team I would want to play. It’s like a wounded animal. Plus there’s a certain amount of pride on the line.

i.e. the Lions for the past 5 years. We always win the last game and drop 2, 3, 4, 7 spots in the draft and end up drafting Joey Harrington, Charles Rogers, and Mike Williams.

^ Irrelavent as long as we keep winning! Did i just say “keep winning” when referencing the Lions? :o :o :o :o :o

There is only 1 other game being played at the same time as the Colts/Pats at 4:15 on Sunday.

The Texans at the Raiders.

So the LA and Houston markets will be the only markets not carrying the Colts/Pats game.

However, I think if the game is NOT sold out, the LA market will instead carry the Colts/Pats, leaving Houston as the only market in America not carrying the big game.

That is unprecedented for an afternoon game (non night-game or MNF or playoff game)!

The hype is unbelievable.

I will be at the Browns game Sunday.

Dawg Pound taboot!! First time in there.

Quick things on the NFL lack week:

-I watched almost the entire game and I still have no clue how Jacksonville won that game. I never thought I’d see a QB that has NO idea how to throw but we found one in Quinn Gray. Halfway through the game I was seriously wondering why Matt Jones doesn’t switch to QB. Could he possibly be worse? I’m not sure it’s possible.

-As a Notre Dame hater, there is no bigger fan of Derek Anderson than myself. Keep Quinn down!!!

-By the way, on the Giants…I read this from Gregg Easterbrook that is proof of a New York bias. Remember when Nawlins got flooded?..the Giants actually got an EXTRA home game that year since they had to play the Giants/NO game in the Meadowlands. So now they have a game in London also with the Giants so you would think that they would even out the extra home game that the Giants got but making THEM the home team for the London game, right? NOPE. Instead the Dolphins are the home team…once again the Giants get the easy end of it…NEW YORK BIAS!!!

-And I know they want to “show the whole NFL” but is anyone else getting sick of the Pats running up the score basically EVERY week? It’s really kind of sad. I mean they want to “show everyone that they’re not a fraud” but why punish other teams?..THEY’RE the ones who brought this on themselves!! And I can understand them maybe doing it to the Jets or the Fins since those are rivals somewhat but why do it against Joe Gibbs and the Skins? Doesn’t make sense. Either way, I have a feeling the Football Gods will get back at them for it. Expect an unfortunate injury to the Pats if they keep this up. It’s a bummer because I like how the Pats play and now I’m really going sour on them. Should be a VERY interesting game with the Colts though…let’s just say I’m benching the Indy defense in fantasy this week.

-By the way, for us Lions fans it was a REALLY nice feeling seeing the final play in the Oakland game. Culpepper goes to Mike Williams on the 4th down to keep the game alive…and he drops it. Just like with Joey, I get a sick joy of watching former Lions screw up for OTHER teams…ahhhh vindication. And now Mike Williams was cut today as a result…HAHAHAHA!

Funny how they are calling Colts/Pats THE GAME OF THE CENTURY!!

all the hype obviously means it will be a blowout and completely boring game…Pats win.

^Steve Young went nuts on this on ESPN last week about how ridiculous the hype is. He basically talked about how San Fran and the Cowboys would play all the time in the regular season back in the 90’s and it never mattered until the playoffs. Either way, I think it’ll be an entertaining game but nothing more for now.

It gets hard to watch Steve Young any more. It seems like he’s always going psycho on something.

And Emmitt Smith. I wonder how much ESPN is paying him to stumble through his analysis and observations that are filled with fractured syntax and malapropisms?

^There’s this guy writing for ESPN who always states that every NFL show now must have the one former-player-who-smiles-a-lot-who-never-provides-anything-to-the-broadcast-and-never-has-anything-worthwhile-to-say.

It’s Emmitt on ESPN. For NBC it’s both Tiki and the Bus…isn’t it funny everyone thought Tiki would be so great in a broadcast booth and yet he’s a total dud? On the Sunday shows, Shannon Sharpe is DREADFUL. Amazingly I don’t mind any of the guys on the FOX show…they all seem to bring something to the table. Fox wins, I suppose.
