huh? a little explanation for the ignorant, please?
download mIRC, click on File > Select Server, choose dalnet from the list, press the connect button under file, it’ll tell you to set up an account so set one up, then type in
/join #ohkeepa
Well…I’m in the other room…I was doing something else and missed you TLD…so we’ll catch up sometime.
well thanks, but what the hell is an mIRC channel? Why would I want to follow thos instructions? I hate being ignorant.
So are we going to use the IRC room or the other one from now on??
i think not all of us here are capable of going into a mIRC channel. i don’t recall problems occuring with the web based chat. i’ll use the web one.
Yeah. So what are we going to use from now on? I’m cool with both, I don’t care. mIRC costs money to register, no?
Whoops! Communication breakdown here I think. I created it because some people had asked me to!
mIRC is just a program which enables you to join “channels” on the internet to chat in. I personally prefer mIRC to the browser based ones because it’s quicker and doesn’t use Java.
mikesaidno, technically one should pay for mIRC but I think you can still use it with all of it’s features after the 30 day period.
cool, i’m in now, but not for long.
you don’thave to use mIRC, you can use Trillian. Trillian alos allows you to manage your AIM, Yahoo messenger, and MSN messenger accounts.

and Trillian Basic is free.
Just type irc.dal.net::6660-6667 in the apporpriate box after you’ve chosen to create a new irc account, enter a name for the account, and choose a nickname.
After you’ve connected, click on the white circle on the main screen, and choose show status window.
And now i’m afraid i’ve made people horribly confused…
Ok. I downloaded mIRC. I chose DALnet, but where do i write “/join#ohkeepa”?
You see the main window you’re in after you’ve connected, there’s a little text bar there to type in!
The mIRC download also comes with some malicious spyware attatched! I just deleted it. And found a five new programs for internet searching…
No thanks…
AH SHIT! Tell me you are joking, how do you know this?
Vern, where did u find these internet files? In which files where they located? Cause I need to delete that shit.
there is no spyware in mIRC! if ten kajillion nerds all over the world use it, i don’t think any spyware hasn’t been comprimised. you probably just downloaded it on internet explorer, which ctually attatches a tracker (shows up as virus on scan) to every program you install to see what you’re doing and send it to microsoft.
Wise man.
I’ve scanned with Ad-Aware and Spybot and they both found nothing. Just letting Norton do it’s thing. I think mIRC is most likely safe as well.

I found new programs installed in my program files called VIRTOOLS Search and WEBRUNNER. AFTER I DELETED mIRC.
They weren’t there before. And I use Firefox…
Spybot also found some unusual items. Ad Aware didn’t.
Don’t worry…none of it is malicious. But I hate tracking.
Just a warning. Installed and use this program, it then continued to shut down my computer for about 15 minutes, even after I uninstalled it. Just a warning… I will be sticking with the Java chat browser.
