10/8/07 Field House at Montana State U., Bozeman, MT

1: Sample in a Jar (4:34), The Moma Dance (11.08)* -> Frankie Says (3.12) -> End of Session (1.12) -> Free (9.51), Guelah Papyrus (2.49)** -> Jam (2.29) > Maze (7.33)*** -> Crossroads (4.04) -> Maze (5.59), Split Open and Melt (13.09)^

2: Bathtub Gin (30.17)^^, Chalkdust Torture (1.36)^^^ -> Ghost (14.25)@, Boucing Around The Room (3.54), Llama (3.36), Gumbo (5.12)$ -> Poor Heart (4.45), Poor Heart (2.44)

E&: Rocky Top (2.31), Hey Jude (7.56), I Am The Resurrection (20.24), Honey Pie (2.37), I Saw Her Standing There (2.11)

*Trey’s ending solo morphed into an ambient groove of which Frankie Sez emerged. **Unfinished, the atonal part of the asses festival was not completed and transformed into a dissonant noise jam (not unlike the 1994 splits), Fish began playing the Maze beat amid all the chaos and the band half seagued in. ***During Trey’s solo, Fish changed the beat and the band went into an imprompetu version of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads (see 11/10/95); this was unfinished and resumed with a solo from Trey taking them into the end of the song. ^This absolutely raged! Not much atonality or dissonance to be found. The audience walked out to setbreak with their faces melted!
^^This took a while to cook up but when it did it melted into a happy hose jam not unlike The Great Went version (only perhaps more complex and powerful) ^^^Unfinished; the band had only reached the beginning of the verse (before the vocals come in) and had caught onto a sick funk groove beckoned by Trey’s quick strumming - this changed key and went into a ‘straight funk/no space’ Ghost. $The Gumbo jam started fairly funky, but took a turn when Trey started playing the Poor Heart riff in a slow, shuffley fashion; they eventually ended up playing the whole song like this (not dissimilar to the fall 95 versions). Poor Heart (fast version) was reprised in full afterwards to end the set.
&Phish’s guest for the encore was Paul McCartney. Hey Jude, Resurrection and I Saw Her Standing There were debuts. Paul sung lead and played bass (with harmonies from Mike (who was on banjo for this) and Page) on Rocky Top, played acoustic guitar and sung for Hey jude, played secondary guitar and bass for the epic take on the Stone Roses classic (this was hailed as one of the jams of the tour; sung by Page). He also sung lead and played piano (page was on slide) on Honey Pie. They closed the set out with a fantastic and snappy take on I Saw Her Standing There featuring Trey and Paul on lead vocals and lead/electric guitar.

NASTY ENCORE!!!

You went all out there, my man.

wtf??? Fantasy Phish??? Okay…

I’ll be on the backporch with Neck smokin’ herb and drinkin’ Oberons. You kids have fun. :smiley:

I think ‘I am the Resurrection’ should become a staple cover for this tour…it isn’t to late for them to do ‘The Stone Roses’ at Halloween.

No, it is too late. :slight_smile:

Halloween should be in Florida, maybe at the AAA :smiley:

Why was this unstickied??
