While I think the excitement about a prospective live tour is totally overrated, I do think their records are not. As far as rock bands go, this one was one of a kind.
Do what I did: get yourself a DVD boot of the O2 concert from last year, and then just enjoy a steady diet of periodic visits to their back catalog for the rest of your days.

you know, one of the bands I was thinking about when I made that ‘music stand the test of time’ thread was Led Zeppelin. I was kinda thinking that personally, I went thru a faze where I was really into them, but grew out of it and I hardly ever look thru my vast music collection and pick out some Zeppelin to rock out to. I’m not sure why, my good buddy loves the shit out of them. I think it’s maybe because any time you turn on your local classic rock station, you hear about the same 5 Zeppelin songs every day. I think the radio oversaturated their music, but maybe the general public really likes them that much that there is a demand for it. Maybe Zeppelin isn’t overrated, they just have that many followers. Maybe Zeppelin is one of those bands that will stand the test of time. I guarantee you there is some kid sitting in a high school science class today sporting a Led Zeppelin t-shirt.
I was thinking that the Geico Caveman Commercials are overrated.
I mean, it was a somewhat humorous concept at first, but man, they are just milking those damn dirty sophisticated apes for every ounce of potential laughter that Geico can come up with. We get it, they are intellectual cavemen somehow living in our time and taking offense to the common misconceptions and stereotypes that we civilized humans crack at their expense. The thing is, those commercials stopped being funny about 4 years ago. And they got so popular that they got their own TV show out of it? Are you kidding me?
The Geico Caveman commercials are definitely overrated. It’s gone too far imo, so much to the fact that I have heard them referenced on occasion sitting on a barstool while throwing back some suds. I mean seriously, do we have to bring in the Geico Caveman for a punchline to some stupid comparison or joke in everyday life now?
ATTENTION GEICO: drop the aussie lizard and extinct the damn dirty half ape/half human. They have both run their course, and the fact that these commercials stopped being funny after the third commercial means that some overpaid, thinks-he’s-cutting-edge Geico exec really really gets a good laugh out of them to continue airing new ones. The rest of us have moved on.
Actually I think the 98 run WAS a little overrated. There’s definitely better shows…

I think the reason everyone says 98 is overrated is b/c it’s an actual release. If it weren’t, nobody would even talk about it. Except for me.
i can’t believe i agreed on the Zep being overrated. shame on me. i listened to discs one and two of the box set today and they rocked my balls off. literally. so if someone could phone a doctor of some kind, that would be just great.

Well…something can be good and overrated at the same time. As much as I love the song Hey Jude by the Beatles, I’ll admit it’s overrated. Just because there are so many better Beatles songs that I never get to hear on the radio…does that make sense? Same with Zeppelin…they’re good (I suppose), but there are just some better bands that I’d rather hear on the radio instead of Led Zeppelin over and over.
