I tend to agree with spacecoyote on this one. A little spice is nice. I didn’t think the exchange between he and PHG wasn’t anything to worry about. This thread is all about opinions, and there’s bound to be a little friction between those, so it’s OK. Overall I’m still feelin the breeze.
Maybe only New Joiseyans could understand this one, but definitely Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Kevin Smith. People treat these three like gods around here, and I just don’t get it.
Semantics, “you are” and “you’re acting like” are a hairs breadth apart.
It is a free internet, but not a free-for-all internet. I don’t do whatever I want, I just act on how I feel.
If I did whatever I wanted to then there would be huge fields of AK for me to harvest each fall, I would make every professional athlete take a high school proficiency exam and Laura Prepon would be my love slave. But that’s not how the world works…or does it?
I’ll have to politely agree with this one. He’s not a comedic genius or whatever but he’s still quite funny. I’ve never watched his show so maybe that’s not as funny but he does interviews all the time around here on radio shows and he cracks me up every time. His Madden is AWESOME.
Totally agree. While I think they were a decent band, this “influence” part of them is WAY overblown. In fact, I’d say they are the reason why there’s so much crappy music out there. Because they were so good, so many bands tried to copy them and so many execs wanted bands like them, that the industry was saturated with copycats who thought you could mumble goth-like lyrics and have shitty feedback-filled guitar and it would be good.
Couldn’t agree less. And are they really THAT overrated? It’s like people say they’re the Beatles or anything who I might agree ARE overrated, especially since they were so crappy live.
Absolutely frickin not. Ali in his prime was UNHITTABLE. Seriously, the guy was a frickin genius. He didn’t have a knockout punch and never attacked the body and still dominated all of his opponents in his prime. Even when he couldn’t move as much when he was older, he still could take massive punishment and it would have no effect and he was still savy and strong enough to collect wins. I’ve seen almost all of Ali’s fights and I’d say Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight ever but Ali is easily a close second.
LOL! Awesome. I can’t STAND retarded names for people’s kids. I think that’s not being debated enough about Sarah Palin…how can we trust anyone which shitty enough judgement to give her kids such retarded names? That should be considered child abuse.
I’d agree with this too. More style than substance. I’d also throw in those guys who made There’s Something About Mary. They haven’t made a good movie since.
Also throw Adam Sandler and Will Smith in there since they haven’t been in a worthwhile movie in decades. Also throw in Woody Allen since all of his movies are the same thing over and over. I agree with someone mentioning Tom Cruise too. Definitely agree on Will with Tyler Perry. Definitely gotta agree on Dane Cook…even funnier how he doesn’t even do stand-up and just does chick flicks now.
And they’re technically nto rated at all but among music snobs, they love the Flaming Lips. Imagine a band where every song is a weirder version of Brian and Robert. How can they possibly have EVERY song be some meandering, melancholy, slow, plodding tune? I mean EVERY song??? Doesn’t that get old?
I’d like to say that “Awareness” is overrated. We’re always trying to raise “awareness” about things. Whether it’s global warming or some disease or the infowars people raising “awareness” about our evil government. Awareness gets you nowhere.
How DARE you.
And, yes, Jesus is definitely overrated. Millions of people worshipping a pot-smoking hippie without a job. Nice work, Christianity. Cut yer hair, Jesus!! ;D
The White Stripes, Radiohead, Ellen Degeneres, tatoos, iPods/iPhones/any Mac peripheral, marmalade, scientology, Dominoes Pizza, Anderson Cooper, velcro, blondes, the speed limit, Easter, cats, Chuck Norris, Sea-doo’s, Autumn, The Tragically Hip (in Canada at least), blue highlighters, bluray, blue man group, pyramids…and I know someone already said it, but goddam Dane Cook.
The need for sports analysts (mainly ESPN). I don’t need 9 different people’s take on who they think is going to win the game. Nor do I need 3 announcers to tell me what I just saw during the play and then talk about everything but football in between plays. (Side note - NFL Network has the best nfl game production out there. Crisp picture, no bullshit commentating and tons of angles.)
Phish comeback. LAME. I want my $320 back for Coventry since they told me that was going to be their last show.
You guys really want Phish to stay away so that your COVENTRY experience will have been more worthwhile?
I can understand to a point, but … really?
I have hope that this will be different, that they will be healthy and have great energy once again. If that’s the case, then I’m happy to forgive Trey’s delusional and compromised statements from 2004.
Of course, I have to acknowledge that I skipped Coventry in favor of the Vermont Yes concert on 9/04/04. Totally dry, no traffic, good performance. Had fried dough with banana peppers on it that made me feel lousy, but you know. That’s why I’m glad Yes isn’t coming back either - I didn’t eat that dough for nothin.
Geez. I thought I was seeing the last Phish show in June of that year and I shelled out about 3 times what I should have. And I’m still not 100% sure the show was actually sold out. Fuckin’ Marsh.
I hear you guys. I definitely paid too much for 8/11/04. It was a good Phish show, but I wouldn’t have bought the ticket I think, if I wasn’t trying to catch the End. Definitely wouldn’t have paid whatever it was I paid, that’s for sure.
why can’t you guys just order tickets when they go on sale and pay face value and have them mailed to your house?
its not that hard. Phish shows (including Coventry) didn’t sell out right away. I waited until sometime in July '04 to buy my ticket online and I paid face value. Whatever that was. 175 or something.
and yes Booz’s first post in a year was borderline ludicrous
