I have this curious fascination of Phish albums as a whole - from start to finish, whether they’re considered any type of “concept album” or not - reminding me of the various seasons of the year.
For example, Round Room typically reminds me of winter and springs forth images of freshly fallen snow, etc. Yes, lyrically that makes sense, but just the mood of the album, too.
SOTG is a fall album. Its dark, hypnotic grooves fit perfectly with the shortening of the days and the fall-like activities (bonfires, leaves falling).
Lawn Boy is a spring album. Its playful lyrics and bouncy music remind me of the transition from the winter doldrums to the sunshine of spring…flowers/plants blooming and the days getting longer.
What other studio albums remind you of the certain seasons of the year?
winter? maybe?
