The Phish Biography

Has anyone read this yet? Thinking about picking it up, wanted a little insight…

To be honest, I didn’t even know it was out. Where can you purchase?

amazon.com/Phish-Biography-P … 0306814846

I didn’t know either until I saw something about it on PT, but I know better than to ask around there for any real/informed opinion

I though it wasn’t out until the 18th.

I got this yesterday in the mail. I’m about halfway through it and I have really enjoyed it so far. It does a good job of talking about the early (pre-phish) days of the 4(5) members, and gets a lot of insight from people like Marshall, Skelton, CK5, etc. Goes into a lot of dephth about band practice, song writing, and other behind the scenes events.

Hope this helps some.

books-a-million says it ships nov 24th.

where did the people who have read this get it?

looks like you can order it from amazon

I got it through amazon pre-order

I got it too! So far it’s really good. The author really dug in and seeded himself with the band. He thinks Phish is the SHIT too!

i just picked this up from books a million. i’m up to the 93-96 part. pretty good so far, i can’t wait to get to the later years.

so far i give it two thumbs up

Thanks…just ordered from Amazon. I don’t know why I thought that it wasn’t coming out till after fall tour!!! :unamused:

I got it about a week ago. Read the whole damn thing in 2 days. Its pretty good, I thought the author was just going to recite the same B.S. that has been written over and over about the band, but the guy went a bit in depth. The early days were given a good share of coverage. I especially like when they talked about Ian’s Farm and Amy’s Farm. Good stuff right there. Nectar’s and the Front, too.

There are times when the author gives his opinion concerning tensions within the group which I didn’t quite agree with, but I guess the guy covered them for so long, it’s understandable to have an opinion on those things. Seems as though the guy wanted to stress that Mike was often jealous of Trey’s songwriting output and such. It comes up a few times. There is also updated setlists from where the ‘Phish Companion’ left off, except he must not have liked the Burgettstown show, because he didn’t include that one. There’s a couple of noticeable facts that are wrong (i.e. random dates/venues), but they do not in anyway take away from the good read that it is. Worth checking out, unless you were there in the early days and so hetty that you don’t need no stinkin book fer noobs.

i’m only 40 or so pages in and its good. should be a quick read. cant wait to reat about 2003 and on…

There’s an article about this in the new Dec/Jan Relix. If I come across it, I’ll probably pick it up. How does it rank against the Phish Book? (which I haven’t read either)

i like it better than the phish book but the phish book has better pictures. there are some in the biography but they are in black and white.

i’ve read everything but the trey interview at the end so far.

Relix basicly reviews it saying they didn’t get too in depth with all of the drug use issues (which I am fine with). I hope Amazon hurrys the hell up…I am ready to read this!

there is a fantastic picture of phish and jerry seinfeld in the book. my new favorite pic…

^^Really? I would love to see this…book should be here by dec. 4…worth the wait I guess. Wonder if it is from NYE post hiatus. I hung out at this bar across the street from MSG that night with Steve Hietner (Kenny Bania). Got a great photo…he said Jerry was a phan.

i forgot what it said. i think it was from a dave letterman appearance from 12/94. jerry was guest, and phish was musical guest…

I know for a fact (my sis told me) that my grandma got me the book for Christmas, which is really kick ass on my grandma’s part, but now I have to wait 3 weeks to read it??!?!?!?!
