that’s the original bass player from Weezer, right?

yeah, i like them but don’t have any CDs

check out eskimo and the tunes of two cities. both are tops.

Love me some Residents. Meet the Residents, Not Available and Eskimo are amazing. I have a couple friends that just went to see them in Chicago…last year?. My one buddy went for a long while listening almost exclusively to them. It was somewhere around that point that I actually stopped listening to them as much, but yeah, they are completely unlike anything else ever. Glad to hear that more people on this site other than Me, Trey and Fish are into the residents…yeah, they’re on the Oh Kee Pa. :shh:

It can drive some people completely mad, but when it’s good it’s great.

Matt Sharp?

His band is called The Rentals.

^aaaahhhh that’s right.

the Residents are also a band I know very limited but pleasing things about.

speaking of bands whose name that I used to get mixed up with these two, does anybody else here like the Replacements?

Trey and Fish have been spotted at their concerts.

^^ The Replacements are awesome…probably my 3rd favorite band to come out of the '80’s, other than Phish and Ween. Westerberg is still probably one of the greatest living songwriters, but still…this thread is about the Residents.

Look at that band. The one guy wears that skull because his eyeball head got stolen.

Everyone should at least learn about the Residents. You don’t have to listen to them, but at least read about them. Learning their story is half the fun.

One of my favorite bands ever.

Saw them live 2 times…MIND BLOWING!!!

This album changed my life:

so where’s a good starting point for somebody like me?

this is a good starting point

oh man, how could I have been so ignorant of this band that existed for decades? this band is incredible. I’ll definitely check out these albums, this material and execution of it is amazing. thanks!

Wow.

This group is pretty interesting. thank you for the thread

From their website, for those who are “new to the residents”:

Face In A Jar By The Door

The Residents see a jar.
Sitting by the door.
Empty and full of possibilities.

They fill the jar with dirt and water.
The jar is no longer empty.
A new project is born.

The dried mud shape resembles the jar.
But it is not the jar.
It is a dried mud shape.

The Residents try again to define the jar with dirt and water.
It will not be the jar.
It will not be The Residents.

The dried mud shapes stack up.
Slowly forming a house.
Mud bricks define a void.

We sit in the void
and imagine the jar.
That is The Residents.

I REALLY respect the artistic quality of this band. Personally, I just cannot get into the music though. I have tried for a while now though. I would LOVE to see them live. They were just in Chicago? Damn… :unamused:

Kind of sounds like video game music.

I just… don’t get it.
