I’d like a coherent story line that didn’t end up with the Secretary of Defense getting holed up with some hackers in a bunker. Or the fact that no one could see 30 ft. machines ‘hiding’ behind light poles and such (exaggeration I know, but when you see it, ask yourself, “is everyone truly this oblivious, or am I just super observant?”). I know, it’s just fantasy, taken from am 80’s cartoon. But I feel like many of the movies that are being made based on previous series are being written by people who never watched them, which just creates bad projects.

I’ll note also that a buddy of mine, whom I usually share likes/dislikes with said he went to see Transsuckers TWICE! Bah! We went to the drive-in, with the Simpsons showing first, and stayed for the 'Suckers because the other choices seemed worse. Now I now, and knowing is more than meets the eye!.

^ I hate to think that explosions and giant robots and mini-skirts can keep me entranced for two and a half hours. Oh well. I’m a simple man. I do disconnect from the machine very often…for that reason. That simple side of me is easily swayed by it all. I hate to feel like this:

I saw The Simpsons Movie yesterday. I liked it. The animation was very good. They did a great job of using all the space on the big screen.

Well, Marie and I were supposed to take our eldest granddaughter to see Transformers on Saturday this past weekend, and were totally disappointed that she wanted to see the Simpsons movie instead. We were almost going to let Livy and her friend go into the Simpsons while we went into the Transformers at the metroplex, but decided at the last minute to see the Simpsons instead.

GREAT FRICKEN DECISION on our part. From the minute it started I was laughing out loud, and that pace never really let down for the rest of the 87 minutes. As a matter of fact, the only negative comment I could make about it is that it was much too short for my liking.

As with the TV show, I don’t actively seek it out anymore to watch, but when by chance I do, I enjoy it thoroughly. Don’t quite understand how that works, but rest assured, even if you’re only slightly a Simpson’s fan like Marie, you should enjoy the movie. She was so happy that we decided to see it instead of Transformers, thinking about what she would have missed.

I’m glad they didn’t attempt to make the movie something “bigger” or “better” than the TV show. By sticking to their winning formula, they simply made a great TV show even better with this movie. Rottentomatoes has it currently at 89% positive reviews, and imdb rates it at 8.3 out of 10, and I’d have to agree with both since the true fans will rate it higher, but everyone would have to admit it’s a solid treat.

^yeah I just saw it this past weekend and enjoyed it a bit more than transformers. It was as fresh and sharp as the simpsons has ever been. Thank you boob lady!

Yeah, I don’t know how people didn’t see the Transformers sucking a mile away. I mean you’ve got a movie made by a director or a writer who was sitting in his room one day and thought “Hmm…I don’t have any good ideas for my next movie…You know…I really liked that old cartoon with the transforming robots…HEY!! Why not do an live-action version! That won’t be lame, uncreative and cheesy at all!!” I mean would you REALLY trust a director or writer who seriously had this line of thinking to produce a decent movie at all??? I loved the Transformers as a kid and I avoided that movie like the plague.

Of course, I’m a big movie snob and I’d say a large majority of movies that get big hype suck ass. As is usually the case, folks who see a lot of movies usually like a lot of movies.

This was well done. Pretty much, “classic” Simpsons. I’ve seen some bad press about Albert Brooks, but I love him. It’s pretty much impossible to top Hank Scorpio but the evil Environmental Protection Agency guy was classic Simpsons political satire.

I think it works because they stick to the fundamental formula for the show. I’d like to see more movies if the same crew is involved.

I think most of the criticisms I’ve read miss the subtleties.

^They should bring back Hank Scorpio for the next movie. After all, he did seize the east coast. Gotta go, I’m in the middle of a fun run. See you at work tomorrow. Even though I don’t like to really call it work.

Wait a minute…there’s a Simpsons Movie?

BTW I thought it was pretty bad. It was all in all too damn serious and the only funny lines came from Homer and the Albert Brooks character. Wiggum may have had a good line as well, but I can’t even remember it so it must not have been that great.

All in All, I thought it was pretty funny. I did go into it with pretty low expectations, based on how bad the last few seasons have been. So that may have had something to do with how much I enjoyed it.

and it was awesome.

i don’t care what my snobbish friends have to say, i thought it ruled. Especially the part with Homer jumping in the sinkhole and Marge yelling “Somebody throw the goddamn bomb!”

laughed my ass off accordingly.
