I was all pumped when I read this announcement on Jambase that:
To support the Canadian release of EISENHOWER, the band will be taking off in mid-April for a burn across Canada with the phenomenal Holy Fuck. At first, The SLIP will be opening for Holy Fuck as the still-mysterious Canadian leg hits cities that the band has never played (hint hint). Then, after crossing back into the US, The SLIP will headline for 5 dates down the coast through some old and familiar territory, ending in a nice two-night stand on Friday and Satuday April 27-28 at the Independent in San Francisco, which they haven’t seen since they sold it out in November. This is going to be fun.
I assume one of those dates will be in Regina or Saskatoon, and if it was the old Slip I would be more ecstatic than I am, but based on some of the newer material I’ve heard, I just don’t know if its worth getting excited over. I’ve heard some older (like '02/'03 stuff) and it sounds really cool. Do they still jam it out hard or is it mostly kinda indie pop songs that they play now? The songs actually sound pretty good me (kinda like Westerberg or Pavement or something), but, basically, am i still in for a good show? Anyone coming up to Regina in Mid-April?
