I know there is a thread somewhere about this, but I can’t find it.
I thought the beginning of the end was so-so.
It was super boring until the fight, but then not too much more happened.
I hope the final 8 are more exciting.
that’s all.

I’ve read nothing but good reviews of the upcoming season that all said basically the same thing. It starts slow, but picks up steam as the season moves along. I don’t put too much stock into reviews, but I’ve watched this long, and might as well see it through now.
So this is the last season and its only 8 episodes?
hmm
I’m just getting into the Soprano fad, since I’ve hit a wall with LOST.
I’ve watched almost the whole first season. I like the show a lot.
that’s all.
seems as if they are setting it up for tony to get sent away, anybody else think this? I am doubting that he’ll get hit
The tv listings I looked at last night had the episode starting at 10:00, so when I turned on HBO at 10:00 I was pissed (although sort of pleasantly surprised) to find “Entourage.” I think the daylight savings kicked in and fucked up the listings, since yesterday is when they normally would have changed.
I think they’ll replay it a few times before the new one next Sunday.
I’ve been a big Sopranos fan since its debut in '99. I’ve also recently gotten into “The Wire” on HBO as well.
^ Neil, I think it’s on again tonight. Also, on deman has them i think.
Sweet, you’re right! 9:00 I think! I’ll have to flip back and forth between that and King of Queens at 9:30.
I have seen every episode and am a die-hard soprano-head, if you will. This season is going to be good. Everyone says the first episode was boring and slow, and it was slow but NOT BORING. I love the episodes like that, because they are entertaining when they are slow, they play on the characters emotions and feelings.
The first episode is obviously setting up future events: The Feds and Tony, Possible hit on Bobby and the strain that would put on Janice and Tony’s relationship, and how Christopher, who Tony is pissed at right now, stands.
Get ready, its going to be good.
The season always starts slow. It will pick up. It has to, a lot has to happen in these next 7 episodes.
I, too, have seen every episode of the Sopranos and have been watching it for a while. I’m fucking pumped that my show is finally back on. I agree that Tony is getting locked up. And Chris is gonna get killed. Something’s definitely going to happen with A.J. too.
I finally saw the premiere last night.
Not a bad episode. Good foreshadowing with the fight, Bobby’s first hit, etc.
I don’t think Tony is getting locked up…he’s definitely getting whacked. Maybe even by Carm.
I liked this episode. The thing you have to remember with the sopranos is that it may be a maffia drama, but the focus is on character development. Their strength has never been exciting storylines (although they have that as well). Their complex character studies have always propelled the show to success. It should also be noted that any season will start slow (particularly for the HBO dramas and their rediculously long story arcs) in order to allow for exposition. The story lines are successfull because of the long ramp up time and all of the subtle detail that surrounds any plot point.
I always have to end any of my comments on HBO with a suggestion to watch the Wire! This show is the true star of the channel and easily my vote for best television program…ever. However, the show takes all of the successfull parts of the Sopranos (especially long story arcs, deep character examinations, and tons of exposition) and is not suggested for a casual viewer or someone looking for a quick thrill. The show needs to be viewed from start to finish and with great attention to detail. If you have the patience and the means, please check this out!
anybody think aj’s girl is a fed?
^ thats the first thing i thought of when i saw her. shes damn hot too.
they did that little bit of foreshadowing in the last episode where they kinda hold the shot of her for a few seconds, just to be like, take a close look
Well Johnny Sack’s dead, and the story begins to push tension between Carmella, Tony and Christopher. I get the feeling one of these three characters is going to turn on the other. Just not sure what kind of combination will come to pass. Any thoughts?
I think that a Christopher/Tony feud is the obvious ending that they seem to have been working towards. Tony’s continued disapointment with Christopher and lack of ability to do anything about it has been a reoccuring theme. Christopher’s constant bitching and air of entitlement also seem to be constantly playing into this dynamic. My guess is this season will end in one of the two going to jail for killing the other.
Carmela is too passive to get anything done, but her suspicion about the adriana fiasco will def. play a role in the end. I just don’t know how.
i agree. Chris will kill Tony, or Tony will kill chris. Most likely the latter.
Uncle J’s letter to Dick Cheney in last night’s episode was hilarious.
^Yeah, they’ve spent a decent amount of time on Junior to this point. I’m wondering if he comes back into the storyline with the family at all.
It seems like the shot of him with the cat at the end of the episode could be our final image of Jr. It makes perfect sense to me to leave him emasulated by the beating, alone and misrable and forced into the routine of living in a facility such as this.
Many blogs have pointed out the rediculous amount of Godfather references in this last episode. From the cat in the above mentioned scene to the tomato plant that also comes up there are a ton of homages and refrences to that classic mobster tale.
I also read some blogs that seem to think that Christopher has been turned by the feds. I don’t necessarily agree, but I can see where they are going. One of the most developed theories has Chris snitching, Tony not being able to rub him out, and giving him over to Phil from New York. This would leave the fed’s case cold, and Tony off scott free, which is totally in line with the end of other seasons.
This could go any number of directions
