Here’s an interesting new theory regarding the Sopranos finale (one that I neither thought of or heard of before).
Interesting and it makes sense, especially him discussing Carlo with Carmella.
I’ll have to watch it yet again, but wasn’t Tony wearing two different shirts in that scene?
Interesting for sure, but I am not sure that this is what was intended.
I feel like Chase set up this scene to give us an idea of what life as a Soprano feels like. The inpending doom, the high tension and suspense, the paranoia are all stacked on top of one another and then boom, the show is over. This final scene seems to suggest that Tony and his crew will continue on with dispair always right around the corner. This was certainly the case throughout the series. Why would it change afterwords?
See, I think that Tony was shot by the guy going into the bathroom. I go back to when he’s sitting in the booth, and he’s looking around. You see Janice come in the door. Why? Well, I think I saw somewhere that Janice walked in just as her father was killed. So it happened right in front of her. So that’s what happened with Meadow. She was having all this trouble parking her car, and she’s the last one to enter the doorway. When she finally does come in, the last thing you see is Tony looking up, and then…nothing. So my theory is that that’s when the guy came out of the bathroom with a gun and put Tony down. Wasn’t that what Tony told “what’s his name” in a prior episode? That when you get whacked, everything just goes silent and black. Nothing grand. So I think that it’s a pattern that repeats itself. Meadow see’s her dad get whacked, just like Janice. Carmella goes bizerk and starts treating AJ like shit. Just like Tony’s mom treated him like shit his whole life. And AJ becomes the next Jersey mob boss (maybe, or maybe it’s the end of the Jersey mob family). Not sure about this one. Another thing that lends itself to my theory: Paulie was the only one of Tony’s crew that was left standing. And when Tony went to promote him, he respectfully declined saying he more or less found God. Well, after Tony prodded him into agreeing to take the job, he sits alone at the table outside the restaurant. Then you see the cat that kept staring at Christopher’s picture come up and start staring at Paulie. My thought is that Paulie got whacked outside the restaurant (a la St. Valentine’s Dat massacre).
So then back to Tony, he gets whacked by the guy coming out of the bathroom (a la "Godfather). To me it’s Chase paying homage to the whole mobster mentality. I know that there are tons of “homages” to other gangster films and stories throughout the series, so what would make this so much different?
Just because there was a peace treaty between NY and NJ, doesn’t mean that Tony is untouchable. He pissed off enough people in the 8 years the show was on that there were any number of people who wanted revenge on him. So maybe it wasn’t NY that had him whacked. It could have been a family member of someone Tony had wiped out.
I know that there are holes in my theory, but I think that this is very plausible.
Thoughts???
Isn’t the name of Meadow’s friend Hunter Skankarella?
^^ WOW!
That’s the PHINEST interpretation that I’ve heard.
That actually makes me LOVE that episode.
cheers phinest!
Tell me this isn’t awesome.
It’s from a recent Pittsburgh Pirates game.

^Well played, Pirates, well played.
^^ HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Will, you MUST. WATCH. GODFATHER.
Don’t hype it, Brett!
Then he might not want to see it or might be disappointed.
I refuse to watch “Dick in a Box” and “Borat” for those reasons. Anytime my colleague here says “Dude, you gotta see this, it’s the funniest thing in the world,” I usually try not to laugh on purpose. Although one time he showed me a video of pug bowling. Youtube or google it.
- Cut a hole in that box.
- Stick you junk in thaat boooox
- Maker her open that box!
That’s what you gotta doooooooooooooooooooo
I feel the same way. I had a friend tell me exactly that in how Borat was the funniest movie ever. I saw it and it wouldn’t even make my Top 50. The Dick in a Box thing is somewhat funny if only for the way they film the video. By the way, isn’t that just say it all about SNL…it’s been reduced from one of the funniest can’t-miss shows to a show that occasionally has one or two skits a year that are funny enough to actually be You-Tube’d.

Good find! Very interesting linking the Godfather with the Last Supper.
here’s what’s weird: i just saw my first episode (the very first episode as a matter of fact) of the Sopranos the other day. i liked it quite a bit. i plan on seeing more. i know nothing about the show except that’s it’s a show about modern day mafia. it’s strange that i never gravitated towards it seeing as how the Godfather movies, Casino, Goodfellas etc are so high on my list of amazing films.
so…it’s a good show right?
^Its a great show. Fizzles out. If I were you, I wouldn’t watch season 6, its kind of like Godfather 3. Watch all of season 1, in order, for sure though.
I just finished watching the entire first season.
And I liked it a lot, enough to continue on in the series.
I believe I had seen more than half of those episodes already, but there was a lot more that I forgot than what I remembered.
Is Tony’s ma really faking it?
Where is Pussy?
I think Carmela (sp?, Tonys wife) is a fantastic actress.
And the scene towards the end where Junior is being interrogated, and you can sort of see he realizes he was a patsy while Tony was the “true” boss… That was pure genius.
[don’t answer above questions please, that is just what was running through my mind]
