The Sopranos

I can’t believe anybody expected closure.

Is Tony alive?

give me a recap. I’m only on season 2 right now.

You have to watch the ending to find out.

I will say one thing: Gotta love David Chase’s inclusion of 70’s classic rock music throughout the whole series. The series ended with “Don’t Stop Believin’” for god’s sake (that might be 80s, I don’t know).

My personal favorite is “Glad Tidings” playing when Tony is walking home after running away from Johnny Sack’s bust at his house.

From the HBO message boards:

So here is what I found out. The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito… Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil.

The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the black guys at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?).

Holy crap, Batman!

That’s awesome.

So we leave Tony as we found him: in a state of eminent peril.

Actually, I take that back. Chase made it a point to show the clip of Tony and Bobby saying how you don’t hear anything when you get shot. So if Phil’s relative went into the bathroom (ala Godfather)…

To be honest, my first thought when that guy went into the bathroom was “oh, great, he’s going to get a gun that’s taped to the back of the toilet.” It immediately flashed to the Godfather.

At first, I was disappointed with the ending. But now, I think it was perfectly fitting.

I agree.

Not unlike a Phish new years run, the show before the finale was better!

That’s because everyone’s expectations are sky high, and everyone has their own idea of how they think it’s going to end. If it doesn’t live up to that, we’re disappointed. But sometimes Phish DOES deliver the goods.

^ sometimes Phish [color=green]delivered the goods!

It was a great ending to the series. Just not a great ending ot the episode. All they really had to do was wait for Meadow to sit down and pan out and show them sitting at the table as a family and the show would have ended.

Important shit happened though. They made peace with the New York guys, and killed Phil. Tony set it up so Bobby’s kids would get Junior’s money and that Janice would be compensated by the guys who killed Bobby. They kind of set up a future that we’ll never get to watch.

^^^^^^I don’t know about the two black guys though, marley. Wasn’t that when the two black guys attacked him in his car and he ended up killing them both, then running into a lamp post while celebrating? Maybe that was 1st season, though.

^pretty sure he did kill those two black guys.

good article recap for those interested.

the 9 circles of hell theory is pretty cool…also the pictures he suggests you google are very similar.

I got that off the message boards and I really can’t remember a whole lot from season 2 or 3.

I remember the boyscouts from two weeks ago when Bobby was shot and I thought there had to more to the characters they were showing so I had to do some searching. I’d actually have to watch the episodes. My research could be wrong.

I didn’t hate it. I didn’t love it either.

I was out last night, got in at about 1230 and pulled it up On Demand. As I got comfy and got ready to watch, a thought snuck into my head amidst all the possibilities I’d been kicking around. “Its probably just gonna be another episode”. And that’s what it was. And it was a good episode.

I think Chase could have made a couple of more distinct choices. But I don’t think it was Bad at all.

Strictly from a business standpoint, HBO and Chase are standing on more of a Goldmine than ever before. The Buzz is ridiculous. I don’t care how many people complain, if they decided to do a Vol. 2 or a movie , we’d all be there with agonizing anticipation.

I mean, how many people(including myself) hated “Star Wars Episode I:The Phantom Menace”. A WHOLE LOT. And after hoards of people lined up, watched that piece of shit, killed it on the net, and agonized over how bad the rest of the trilogy was gonna be, what did They(WE) do?

The same thing all over again.

So from a dollar and cents point of view(and isn’t that what its all about anyway), they’d be idiots not to take this story farther.

Well I was off base in my ratings predictions. Damn near 12 million people watched the finale, which is quite impressive considering only 30 million subscribe to HB0.

However, it was the week’s second most popular show, just behind the premiere of “America’s Got No Talent,” which is a NETWORK show and available to infinitely more people.

It was the fourth-most watched episode (?!?!?!?!), and most watched since 2004 season premiere.

I think I am going to watch the Sopranos from the beginning…

I believe I saw two or three episodes of the first or second season, and that is it.

Never got into mobster type media at all really…

[still is yet to see The Godfather]

damn will, thats almost as bad as greg always saying hes never listened to big cypress. godfather 1 and 2 are such classic movies. i prefer the second one but thats just me.

Recently when I was at my dad’s, Bravo was showing something called “The Godfather Chronicles” or the “Godfather Saga,” something to that effect. Anyway, Coppola apparently spliced together all the scenes from both movies in exact chronological order. Ingenious! It was really good.
