They should have played......

They should have played

GOLGI as the second set closer for 8/12/04.

They already jammed SASS beyond belief the year prior at the same venue, why play it again without the nice intro?

lets just say there was a total lack of Golgi that summer

^golgi first set closer on 6.25.04 was well-placed and played OK, and the 8.11.04 version after the sickest 2001 in five years was also well-placed! I saw both of them.

And that brings me to what I first thought about, 8.11.04. The second set started off so strong with Antelope–>2001->golgi, Waves–>Tweezer–>HYHU–>fishman madness–>Terrapin–>HYHU–>Double drum solo–>Timber. The set of course wandered a bit and lost momentume during the Fishman portion, but, remember…the antelope was unfinished!! I sooooooo wanted them to finish the Antelope later in the set. So, I was hoping they would’ve finished the Timber, but then built up a post-Timber jam that led into the chaos part of Antelope! That would’ve been a far cooler way to end the show then with Sample.

They could’ve played Sample->Reprise encore instead of Bouncing->Reprise, because you could tell Trey wanted to play Sample.

Oh well. Good show. Great times.

A second one, I suppose…my first show. 7.18.03

Second set starts with an explosive, 25 minute DWD---->Catapult. Then they play Bug. That’s OK, I thought to myself. After Bug, though, we needed something to bring things back up. Anything besides more slow songs. BUT TREY PLAYS SECRET SMILE AND TWO VERSIONS OF ME!! ugh. The set lost all energy and potential from there.

So I guess my wishes for what they would’ve played after Bug is…Piper, Tube, or Split Open and Melt (which they finally played on 7.22).

And, finally. 12.31.03. They should’ve played a completely flawless Fluffhead for the encore. I know, I know. I’m a noob. haha.

And the FOUR, yes FOUR times I saw Friday, 12.28.03, 6.26.04, 8.10.04, 8.14.04. I’m sorry. I’m usually not too picky and I do like slow songs, but Friday is different. I just don’t like hearing that song live. Everytime it happened, it was a downer. Trey never sounded very good singing it live.

that tease was tempting yes

…but it was sooooooo time for Frankenstein!

everything about the Miami run was flawless

why not Fluffhead->Frankenstein??

:stuck_out_tongue:

First set ended with My Soul, Julius.
Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
Give me a Slave to take both of those tunes out.

07/15/2000
Mango Song->Have Mercy Jam
NO Jam!!! Play Have Mercy dammit!!

07/23/2003
After a blistering Run Like an Antelope, they decided to REALLY cool things off with a Thunderhead. Total energy sucker. I honestly forgot they finished the set with Slave to the Traffic Light. I think it should have went Antelope, Slave. No Thunder.

Isn’t this the same the The Fizzle Out thread?

[edit] didnt read will’s last post but it just goes to show how bad this was [/edit]

as soon as i read the thread’s title i immediately thought of set II 2000-07-15.

2: Down with Disease* -> While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Makisupa Policeman**, Piper -> The Mango Song#, Bug, You Enjoy Myself (1:36)

#Segued into a “Have Mercy” jam (no vocals).

the dwd was long and well played then it gave way to a WMGGW, which got the whole crowd yelling. the makisupa reference (heady nuggets) got even more roars from the crowd. it seemed like you couldnt walk more than 5 feet in the lot without someone trying to sell you heady something (heady ice cold cigarettes, for instance). i guess the band caught on to this. piper starts and melts nicely into the mango song. what a combo! the mango song slows down and all of a sudden a have mercy jam is in full force. everyone is just waiting for them to kick into the vocals. then out of left field trey starts playing the intro to bug. ive never gone from such a high to a low at a show before. i think he chose to do this because of how well placed bug was at cypress (as the sun came up). they should have retired that song that day cause it would never reach that level again. unfortunately trey had too much of a chubby for it and there was no have mercy. they tried to make up for it with a YEM (which was expected due to one not being played at either deer creek or polaris over 5 shows) but it just wasnt the same. damn you scuba steve!

I’m not allowed to post because I never saw Phish, apparently.

Apparently you have 7,200 posts so I doubt that not seeing Phish live is going to stop you anyway

Sort of.

More or less.

Maybe.

Perhaps.

Do I detect a hint of anger there?? bigb said if you haven’t seen Phish, don’t post, so I’m going to abibe by his rule. I was just…lamenting the fact.

i’d like to point out that Gregory has posted twice in this thread so far.

nah, no anger, i just figured that you wouldn’t let not seeing Phish live stop you from posting anywhere on the pah

i only got to see them 4 times

At my only indoor fall tour show, they petered out the first set IMO. While the “Stash” was high energy, the set was only about 50 minutes and could have used 1 more song. I would say it could have used a “Slave” or something to that effect, but it was played the night before. I think to end the first set, a “Melt” would have worked perfectly.

2: Birds of a Feather, Tweezer**# > NICU > Scent of a Mule, Fast Enough for You, Piper# > Character Zero (1:12)

E: Sleeping Monkey > Tweezer Reprise# (0:09)

*first time played; Crazy Horse cover; written by Danny Whitten; also appeared on Neil Young’s album ‘Tonight’s the Night’ (and in his live shows); previously played by Trey solo (1999 tour). **with slowed-down ending, similar to the recorded version on ‘Picture of Nectar.’ #with glowrings.

So iv’e just heard a rip roarin Ghost and Runaway Jim at Portland meadows in 99. The tempo is hot and then comes Roggae? C’mon man. This would have been the perfect place for Brother. The next two songs were 2001 and YEM. If Brother was placed dere in da middle this would have left a much better taste in me mouf! I like Roggae don’t get me wrong, but it was just like getting a bag of killer dank and finding a seed!

wait…do you find this seed before or while yer smoking it?

cuz i’d have to say that a seed in a kiler bag of dank can be a plus…

nevermind.

continue.

While smoking it of course!

Carry on then.

this is the first thing that came to MY mind, too. The ‘have mercy’ jam was just cruel. I dont care much for ‘bug’ live. it just kills the mood for me everytime. another song choice would have helped this average set.
