Today in Phishtory!

love that show!!! good looking place, indeed

Is this the venue in Europe that people were actually either leaning on Page’s piano or sitting underneath it (something to that effect)?

Or am I just mildly retarded?

Couldn’t answer you, but this is one hell of a show. You’d think that Amsterdam would have been one of their bigger European stops.

My first post-hiatus show. It left me wanting a lot more, and night two did not dissapoint!

U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, OH

Set I: Wilson > Frankenstein, Down with Disease, Lifeboy, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Run Like An Antelope, I Didn't Know
Set II: Mike's Song -> Free > Waste -> Also Sprach Zarathustra, Harry Hood, All of These Dreams, Possum > Cavern
Encore: Wading in the Velvet Sea
Show Notes: Lifeboy was played for the first time since November 25, 1998 (129 shows). I Didn't Know included some dancing antics from Trey, Page, and Mike, while Fishman took his vacuum solo. 2001 included teases of Stash, as well as Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring."

^I never understood the disappointment with that show. Besides Free being sloppy.

Spectacular first set, abnormal Mike’s–>segue, nice 2001, decent Hood and Possum. And I love AOTD

The next night is way better, but this night is no slouch imo.

I have rarely listened to it since that date… But I remember leaving thinking a lot of it was very sloppy. Maybe I will have to toss this one on to refresh my mind. 4 years takes it toll on the ole brain.

^good show. i remember security sucked.
and mike used that synth effect for almost every song. but i have no complaints about that. pretty solid for post hiatus.

I thought it was a really high energy show. I had a blast at it …maybe because it was my birthday and I had great seats.

My favorite. Sloth opener. Piperpaug. Scent of a Mule with backwards drumming from Mr. Jonny B Fishman. My first “post-hiatus song” with Walls of the Cave. And it was nailed! I remember these swirling purple lights behind Page during most of this show, especially this song. Page was feeling it this night. And then my favorite set I ever saw. First Tube of the new era, a sick Gin, my second post-hiatus song which I did not dig as much as my first, a good jammin’ but relatively “safe” Bowie, and a beautiful Bug to close it off. Oh, and then a simple encore with Fish yelling what he yells. I love this show.

U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, OH

Set I: The Sloth, Dogs Stole Things, Piper -> Weekapaug Groove, Dirt, Scent of a Mule, Walls of the Cave, Mountains in the Mist, Sample In a Jar
Set II: Tube > Bathtub Gin, Friday -> David Bowie, Bug
Encore: Suzie Greenberg
Show Notes: For the first known time, Weekapaug was played without Mike's Song (possibly to bring closure to the Mike's Song a night earlier). Gin included a down-tempo DEG tease.

^
Word. That “Piper -> Weekapaug” is fantastic, and that “Gin” is probably my favorite of the PH era.

that two night run was awesome. birthday show on the 21st then a solid show the next night. to celbrate i decided to make two batches of brownies for all my friends. i used about 1/4 of nice nuggets in each batch which yielded 9 brownies each. needless to say, we were all pretty trashed from them. my friends came up to me the next day and asked me what the hell i had put in them. ahh, my one successful time at baking something. at the time i think i enjoyed the first night more, being my bday and all, but looking back that second night just smokes.

^ that gin is sick as hell. It took me on a journey.

Anyone remember when Trey caught the glowstick and started playing the guitar with it?

You can clearly tell when on the LPSBD because when Trey quits playing for a second, the whole crowd goes nuts.

Good times.

Oh, and the snow afterwards, I wasn’t expecting that!

was that during the Gin? (the glowstick thing)

I’ve always wondered what the pause and crowd reaction is!! This is in the chorus right before the jam section, right?

Yeah, didnt realize I never mentioned what song it is in.

It is indeed the Gin.

I believe the glow stick was green… Maybe orange.

^ 'twas green

10 year anniversary of yet another great show.

Why did you bold some of those??

I think he was emphasizing the fact that those were some of the most radically/gnarly performed songs of the night.
