"Today's Posts"

Okay, I realize there’s a 10 most recent posts link at the bottom of the home page, right near where it shows who’s online. That’s been helpful.

But check this out: I just went to the search page and found that it was pre-set to include a search of every public forum on the site, so I simply changed the search time to the last whole day, and then changed two other settings: the # of results from 10 to 100, and then the display from detailed to collapsed … by thread rather than by entire post. And voila and f*ckin’ A … there’s the page of my dreams right there.

Now, I suppose when I visit I can start off by clicking search and doing those few things. Or maybe once I get thru filtering that search I can bookmark thatpage.

But I thought that maybe I’m not the only one who’d like a link to a page like that.

Good tip hose! Good hose tip!

Thanks … but I meant it more as a suggestion than as a tip! It might be helpful to everyone if you guys can make a link that gives us that page. I realize my original post didn’t clearly say that!

^ i still dont comprehend

I’m simply suggesting that there be a link on the home page to ‘Today’s Posts’, which would then display a search result that listed the 50 or 100 threads that have had posts within the last day, or the last few days or whatever.

There are other boards I visit that have that feature, and I find it real handy.

Still confused?

Here this link should always work:

http://www.shortenurl.com/3pjiq

that link above didnt work for me i just get…

“No Results Found
We could not find any posts that matched your search.”

i am to a owner of a proboards (the link in my sig obviosuly) and on my board i have it set so instead of that link on the front page being “View the 10 most recent posts of this forum.”
its… “View the 100 most recent posts of this forum.”

This board gets more that 100 post a day so it still wouldnt show you all the new threads from that day exactly.

I’d guess you could adjust the settings, no? I got the page I was looking for by filtering the search to include the most recent 100 posts for the last 7 days, and to show it to me collapsed/by thread (instead of showing the entire post). Actually I’ve done that search a few times and sometimes I ask for different numbers … doesn’t matter cuz either way you see a huge overview of recent activity.

I bookmarked the page once I got it, and sometimes it works great. Other times it does what deadpinkphish described - no results found.

i just did the “today’s posts” using the search function as you described and i dig it. i would second having a quick link to something like this.

Me too! I’ve been wanting something like that for awhile. That would be sweeeeeeet.

Hey all, I’m working on it… At the moment, the best I can do is a link at the top of the form to show the 100 most recent posts in expanded form. I’ll have a scout around Proboards support and see what I can find!

geez, Ian…get yer shit together!

;D

Awesome … that’s exactly it, except the part about the list as ‘collapsed’, listing by thread instead of showing the whole post. I wonder if either one is less taxing on the server … ?

[*edit: just realized you addressed the expanded/collapsed bit right after I replied. d’oh!]

Thanks for working on this!

I logged on today, and what do I see? “Today’s Post” in the corner. Hell yeah. Thanks Ian.

Hi … just bumping this thread to ask if there’s been any luck changing this link to a ‘collapsed’ version of recent posts? I’m still using my own bookmarked search page, which is okay too …

I think it’s way more practical (and maybe easier on the server!) to see a list of recent threads than it is to see a list of the posts themselves.

/ass pain

Hey hose, just had another look on Google and there is no option to have a collapsed recent posts. Many people have suggested to them that they should have more options for recent posts but nothing has come to light as of yet.

Cool, thanks a lot Cletus … I just use the bookmarked search page I made and I can get it that way, so I get around it.

I still get my way.

^That’s so I can preserve that link.

Whenever I try and bookmark the search configuration I want, (from the office I mean,) I can’t make it work. I just get www.ohkeepa.com/youdidit,hose! but it doesn’t link to a neat list of active thread titles like this one above hopefully does. So I grabbed this link from home and shoved it here.
