Trailer Park Boys

^Cool!

Shit yeah! Last nights episode was awesome. Luggage Bandits, Co-daddies and trying to boost a car using a Go-cart. Funny as hell!

I’m 3 episodes into season 2. Mr. Lahey has started drinking and almost lost the position of Trailer Park Supervisor, but Julian snuck mushrooms into the challengers hot dog. So as he gave his speech, they started to take effect and he couldn’t speak.

good stuff.

that site is amazing, besides trailer park boys.

I’m finishing season one, and the show is developing nicely. I think getting into a new show days before finals week starts may have been an unwise choice. O well…

ahhh yea

Great suggestion Hank! I am watching the first episode of Season one and I’m enjoying it a lot.

J-Roc owns those first 3 seasons. His apperances become a lot more sporadic in seasons 4-7, though he has had some amazing moments in the new season. The guy who plays J-Roc, Jonothan Torrens, actually used to be a small Canadian star long before TPB. He used to have a teenage talk show called Jonovision, and every second week, it seemed like, he would have a battle of the bands and other than that the topics would be very based around teenage issues.

Before Jonovision he was on a Canadian show called Street Cents. It was a half hour show, again for teens, about consumer awareness. It was always on after school when I was younger, and the cool thing about the show is that they didn’t show any commercials. It was funded entirely by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), so they didn’t have to pander to any sponsors, and I really learned a lot about how much consumer’s get gipped from a very young age. Anyway, Mike Clattenberg, the director and creator of Trailer Park Boys used to write for that show and that’s how he knows Jono…just a little history for you.

any other history would be great Devin!

thanks

Trailer Park Boys was originally a black and white movie and had a much more serious edge to it. The drug of choice was coke instead of weed and the only characters that you would recognize are Ricky, Julian and Cyruss. It really wasn’t all that funny, but I guess Showcase saw how it could be pretty damn funny if they actually gave these guys a bit of a budget.

I don’t know a ton of history outside of what is available in the commentaries on the DVD’s (which are friggin hilarious!..most commentaries actually suck, but Clattenberg is a genius and everythign he says is a hoot), but they are huge cult figures in Canada and I might be the only one I know that watched the show in that first season. It really gets better and better up until Season 4 and 5, which are the best IMO. Season 6 is a bit of a letdown because it is only 6 episodes and some of them just weren’t that funny…I suppose this was because they were releasing the movie that year. Season 7 has been the funniest so far, and I hope it just keeps getting better from here. I really hope it catches on down there because these guys are comedic genius’ and they really deserve it.

Jesus…Episode 6 already tonight…I think…

I’m having a liquor and cheeseburger party tonight with a bunch of friends for TPB! If you don’t get that then you have got to check out last weeks episode.

I was trying to watch episodes last night on that site, and it kept on quitting about 2 minutes into the episode.

This better be a temporary bug, or I’m going to have to kill someone. I need TPB until LOST season 3 comes out on DVD.

I think I’m gonna buy these seasons on DVD so I can share them with my Dad, he hates watching stuff on the computer. It’s like $150 bucks for 5 seasons, but I’ll have all summer to work off that debt :P.

BUMP for watching episodes at work!!

good times.

This new season is just crazy. Most of the episodes have taken place outside of the park and every episode has had a very mysterious ending. What season are you on Hank?

I’m somewhere in the middle of season 5. It’s been kind of messed up, since that website didn’t work for a while, and one or two episodes from every season just wouldn’t work like the others, so I’ve missed a little bit.

But I’ve found that it doesn’t really matter if you watch it straight through. Each episode stands on it’s own, and that is an awesome aspect of the show.

That’s a little disconcerting about the new season though.

I’ll probably watch it tonight when I get home from work.

I hear you. Most of the seasons don’t have the kind of continuity that new season seems to have. Don’t get me wrong, every episode still really stands up on its own, but the endings just leave you hanging for every show.

That sucks that some of the episodes are kind of fucked, but tell me you at least got to see the “If I Can’t Smoke and Swear I’m Fucked” episode. I think it’s season 3…the one with Ricky’s amazing courtroom monologue.

^haha I think I did see the courtroom scene but I’ll have to watch it again.

I don’t remember it very well (what a surprise), but remember thinking it was pretty epic.

That’s one of my favorites. "Why Cory and Trevor, stealing gas is highly illegal Cory and Trevor.

I can’t fall asleep now without having an episode of this show on. I listen to it and relax…
