Wasnt there. But I did start a Torrent this morning before I left for work, so I’m hoping to be kicking back and giving it a listen when I get home. I’m hearing Positive things though.
Even on Phil Lesh.Net where people seem to have an extra amount of fun knockin’ Trey.
Nice to hear Trey is getting the ITCH to play. C’mon brutha, go on TOUR!
We miss you!
hhaahah, Phil pardoned Trey. That’s hilarious.
classic!
go Mayor Lesh!
Yeah! People that get caught with heroin should be pardoned!
This show was Phil throwing a “coming out party” for Trey. And it smokes. On top of the fiery climactic runs we’re all accostumed to, this show has the best Trey/Larry interplay I’ve heard so far. Last summer if Trey wasnt wailing a distinct solo, he looked and sounded lost (imo)at the 3 shows I saw. Not so here. Confident, patient, disciplined with just the right amount of guitar testosterone.
This show is heavily seeded at E Tree. Its U/L’d from two different Nuemanns sources. I’d go with Rob Clarke’s U/L if you’re more interested in finding out how Trey sounds than any thing else. (If you’re on this board, I’d bet thats the case)
Oh and the lyrical concept is pretty funny. In particular Hearing Trey sing:
“Test me test me, Why dont you arrest me!”
^ Yah, all the references to prison and jail throughout the show are pretty great.
Just got to viola, so far the show has been pretty good, couple good trey moments so far, nice to hear his tone again
I don’t really have an desire to hear this show for some reason.
Playing one verse of Viola then one verse of Cumberland then one verse of Viola then one verse of Cumberland then one verse of Viola then one verse of Cumberland seems pretty gimmicky to me.
I agree on both accounts, although if the segues were nice and smooth then good for them.
show is ok so far, i don’t get the epic feeling everyone was talking about
the show i saw 6/30/06 Phil w/Trey I enjoy more
hopefully the dark stark help slip franklins is the meat of this show
so I downloaded the first set of this show and I"m listening to it today
all I can say is I really wish Phil would let other people sing…his voice is so weird.
all im saying is this wasn’t as epic as people made it out to be
Trey’s playing on Deal is pretty nice.
I had trouble picking Trey out of the mix, I mean they did have three guitars and I don’t think he played lead, maybe on a few songs he did?
I’m not about to start a new thread about this, but Phil covered Ghost last night with Steve Molitz on vocals. It looks like a really sick show based on the setlist. Werewolves of London encore.
Hell I just post the Jambands.com article.

yes, i will be checking that out once it reaches the archive
Phil and Friends lately is just too loose for me I think. I’m listening to the second portion of this show, with the Viola/Cumberland sandwich. It just seems like throwing together 5 or so musicians, playing some dead songs, and trading solos. And this Viola is a little painful to listen to.
I mean, I suppose its a lot better than most of what is out there, but its just seems too willy-nilly for me right now. I do really like Cumberland though, as a song.
You’re willy-nilly Hank. These shows are hot. I’ve probably listened to 3/4 of this tour and Phil’s on fire at this point. Other than that one show with Trey most of the shows have not been very Dead-centric. He plays a lot of Jackie Greens stuff and I think he may be debuting stuff that he wrote/is writing with Jackie. Give this band a few years to blossom like his old quintet had and this could be the best touring band out there.
