also something my mom has never seen before…
she asked if whippits were a ‘phish’ thing…
i just said its a norm of the concert culture nowadays… she said it was horrible to see all that trash outside of Carnagie.

was she talking about the balloons or the people selling them?
Anybody find any better audio sources?

Keeping it classy… :
went lat night, and it absolutely amazing from start to finish. mix of hippies and carnegie regulars in suits who probably had no clue who trey/phish was. carnegie hall is beautiful, and the sound was fantastic. trey was having a great time. first tube, dsky, guyute and yem were crazy. i had an amazing time.
the balloon thing outside was rediculous and totally embarrasing i think.
Here it is…

Having my students listen to it as they do their work…you can hear a pin drop in the classroom (and these are urban students)!! ;D
This was awesome. Trey’s a badass.
Thanks, Keith!
Arrgggh, I can barely hear the music at all… I can tell First Tube is playing, but holy hell is it hard to hear the orchestra or Trey in all this boomy echoing and background noise.
Still, at least we can hear something, better than nuttin at all.
It gets alot better after First Tube. Give the guy a break, it was the first song of the night.
This is absolutely spine-tingling. Trey gets pretty choked up once or twice

The trombones during the boy-man-god-shit part of YEM are fucking awesome. I can’t wait til we can hear an official release. I’d love to hear what the members of the NYP thought of playing this music, too. (Not to mention the audience reaction, wow.)
Carnegie hall pulled the trey footage… GONE! Bastards
I forgot to mention. as i was leaving the show, down the street i saw someone carrying a violin case and asked if she was in the nyp. she breifly told me how much fun everyone had learning and playing the songs. she said trey was great and a really nice guy…
Listening the recording… I don’t need to say how awesome it is. MAN.
One thing I noticed here is that the traditional audience recordings really do NOT work for an orchestral environment. The volume of the music means that every little noise in the audience is incredibly loud, and the distorted rockshow-level cheering between songs reveals just how much more the mic preamps are turned up. I’m really hoping for a professional (I don’t think “soundboard” is a proper term) recording of one of these shows.
damn, i’d like to hear that!
as for those pictures, yeah people suck.
in 2005 i was in NYC (only time there) and it just so happened that Gordo was there playing with Leo Kottke so me and my friend went to check it out. Great show but before the doors opened we were hanging outside the place talking to people and this guy walks buy and says “Hey, have you guys seen Molly around?”
really? i thought. This is an intimate acoustic club show- what the fuck do you need molly and nitrous for when you’re going to see and acoustic show or a philharmonic orchestra.
go back on disco biscuits tour, please.
