While part of me thinks it’s kind of ‘unclassy’ to swear so much, I would totally be the same way and have said the same things. I may not like the direction Trey has gone in, but I’m not going to go to his shows to try to ruin it for everyone. Frankly if he’s happy with what he’s doing, I’m ecstatic for him.
swears make baby jesus cry
Thanks for the link. I think Trey dealt with it really well.
It was kind of obvious that Trey was uneasy about swearing also because he kept apologizing for being so pissed and f’ing everyone off. He was definitely conflicted over speaking his mind and maintaining a professional demeanor while on stage. This was a terrible position for him to be put in.
I mean beside the basic rudeness of throwing something at an entertainer on stage, these people put Trey into a head that he really didn’t want to be in, but felt he had to respond to. That’s why he kept back-pedaling after every attack on the creeps in the audience.
He really didn’t deserve any of this. I felt really bad for him.
Anyone still have a recording of this or know where to find one?
If he doesn’t like it he should put up chicken wire in front of the stage!
Head em up
Move em out
Rawhide!
I think the asshat that hit Trey with a box of hundreds of glowrings at Cobo might have screwed up the 2nd set for everybody. From where I was watching from this guy came in from the side of front row and threw an “armfull” right on his head! I groaned audibly but about that one but I was way too far away to drag him onstage for a public trial and baning. On paper 2nd set looked cool but it wasn’t anything like the 1st IMHO.
Out of all the musicians in the world Trey is about the last guy anybody should be throwing anything at. The guy really, truly seems like a humble, nice guy. I don’t blame him a bit for doing that. He’s up there trying to entertain people and he’s got these dick heads throwing things at him. Unreal, man… some people just have absolutely no moral compass to tell them to act like a normal human being.
In the Janes Addiction movie “Gift” Perry Farrell takes a hit from a Birkenstock. He says to the crowd " it’s not cool to throw stuff at me and the person who threw this Birkenstock at me doesn’t even have any fashion sense!"
Hmm I felt different. I liked the second more than the first.

no… does anyone have a recording of this?
poor Trey…
Probably should just go ahead and eat the peanut butter like iggy pop

And to his defense about the frustration of throwing things during a show, my first phish show 9/24/00 at the Allstate arena, the band left the stage after 36 minutes because they were getting pelted with glow sticks.
For a first show and first phish experience, I was surprised, but can understand the frustration when he is trying to belt our solo gems such as “Shine”
Everyone has their limits.
I’m so confused. I assume you mean 09/23? And where is the “solo gems such as ‘Shine’”? Was it the Halleys>Fee>Stash that grinded your gears?
And plus, I like Shine!
36 minute set? On 9-24? Shine?
What’s for dinner mom?
Man this was a while ago. I’ll have to see if I can dig it up. I wouldn’t imagine its on etree any more.
Morons. I really don’t know what to say. It’s just sad that people attend shows who want to hit band members with things.
