Trey Reoccurring Licks

I was listening to the 93 Roxy shows(cant remember what song) and i heard a very distinctive lick Trey used that sounded really familiar. I noticed that it was the same lick from the David Bowie jam at IT(the one on the DVD at the end of the scene that they loop and it keeps getting lower and lower and then fades out) and also from the nye 95 mikes jam. Anyone know what lick I am talking about? I was wondering what some of your favorite trey licks were.

I will try and isolate a sample of what im talking about.

It just stood out to me because its in a lot of the official releases. idk, i fail.

There’s the one Aug refers to as “Fat Guy in a Little Coat.”

You can hear it clearly in the 6/28/00 “Gin.” It should sound quite familiar to fans of later Phish.

It begins at 6:20 and is about 5 seconds long. From 97 onward this one is pretty frequent.

ya i just got a hold of IT… and it wasn’t the bowie jam. it was the ghost jam. trey kicks into it at exactly 14:00. seck.

I hear “Spooky” teases in my sleep. Seriously haven’t been able to get that riff
out of my head for like, 5 years.

^yeah estimated. That sounds like the lick That he plays in the stash intro. That wierd little slide back. Some of those i believe in the island tour old home place… i love that song
