these guys are alright…
how do ya get the vid in the post?
oldie but goodie.
I always find myself coming back to this video…both warren and trey have such awesome phrasing and note choice…they never play too many notes and are always playing in context…near the end they really do get “on top of eachother” rather than one person playing lead and one person playing rythm
The other night, I was sitting in the room when my friend started humming a beat. I responded by tapping out a beat, and me friend “jammed” a little. It sounded pretty good, surprisingly. When we stopped, we each thought we had been following the other. I know exactly what Trey was talking about. It’s quite magical.
Even moreso with instruments and possibly a recording device.
!!!
::waits for Ollies comment on how terrible Warren Haynes is::
i love both those dudes to death, but derek trucks can smoke both of em… ![]()
^Trucks smokes Warren, but not trey. Trey and Trucks is like comparing apples to oranges. Trucks and Warren is like comparing a really good orange to a completely awesome orange. I love Warren by the way.
^^ I think they’re all really different players, trey being by far the most versatile of them all, derek being the obvious best at slide blues and warren being the best at straight-ahead blues…
^ I guess could agree with that. I initially said that Trucks is better than Warren just because I feel like Derek has really created his own sound/style, where as I feel Warren is just extremely good at an already existing style. To me, a guitarist is truly great when you can hear them playing, and know instantly who it is without knowing what band/song you are listening to initially. I get that from both Trey and Derek, but not Warren.
^ Jerry, too. Although, I think that has more to do with tone than playing style.
