Trey's Rig

trey.com/treysrig/

anyone want to guestimate what the whole thing would cost? Just curious…

Including the Jimi Hendrix action figure, I would say like $10,000+…

But being a drummer, I have no idea how to ballpark Amp and Cab costs…

Thats a great pic as well…

Also, Trey’s site seems MUCH nicer than phish.com

Thousands.

It depends on how much Trey had to pay Languedoc for that guitar. But the Martin is a couple grand, its about 10 grand in pedals maybe.

strangedesign.org/rigs/index.php

Total Estimated Cost for Guitars and Strings:$15,704.00
Total Estimated Cost for Amps and Speakers (not including Mics): $11,329.00
Total Estimated Cost for Rack Effects: $3,156.00
Total Estimated Cost for Floor Controls and Effects: $4,381.00

A little over $30,000

:wtf:

My pedals - I basically don’t know if they even work, or if I even paid for them. I have a DOD distortion pedal and a Boss Stereo Chorus. I think. I have a Fender solid state amp I bought off a buddy for $200 like twenty years ago, and a Korg effects processor that I’m not nuts about ($80 used). I use that more for recording good bass sounds, actually. My guitar is a used Godin I got for $400. So my whole rig is like … $750 tops.

Now I only say all of that because the difference in sound between his rig & my own isn’t worth $29,250 to me. So when the Trey’s rig salesman comes to town, I know where I stand on the matter. No, thank you Mr. Trey’s Rig Salesman!

Thank you.

^No Problem

As far as myself:

I have 3 guitars, a PRS Custom 22, a Rickenbacker 325, and an Epiphone Les Paul, about $3000 all together.

Pedals on my board: Crybaby > Xotic AC Booster > Keeley Mod Metal Zone > Ross Compressor > Whammy II >
Boss Flanger > Fulltone Deja Vibe > Mutron III > Boss Giga Delay

Pedals currently not on the board: Boss Octave, Boomerang, Talkbox

Probably about $2000 in pedals.

And then my Fender Deluxe, which was about $900

I can get Trey type sound if I want, I only go for it occasionally though because its been done. So for less than $6000, it can be done.

Here’s a cool diagram and video of Trey’s rig from around '97, I believe. Bob Bradshaw of Custom Audio Electronics (CAE) wrote the story, and helped work on this rig before Brian Brown became his guitar tech.

I’m really glad that Trey is returning to his older setup with the two languedoc cabs and the ross compressor. I think he may have only had one of the cabs during summer, fall and for the current TAB tour, but at Miami, i know he had both cabs onstage

^Man, I’ve been looking for that page for years. Thank You.

Well, if Trey had your rig, I’d pay him $30,000 to get the one he has now.
:unamused:

haha!

Welp. I’m sure Trey can make a $750 rig sound pretty good.

And you know … $30,000 is a lot of freaking money to sound prettier, when you’re working with a budget like mine. But while you’re slinging cash around, any upgrade is a welcome one.

::extends hand for handout::

he’s got two tube screamers? i wonder what the settings are

my guitar rig goes like this

93 gibson sg> guitar cable> orange rockerverb 50> speaker cable> orange open back 2x12

i’ve never been able to keep a pedal in my setup. i’ve had wahs and envelope filters but i always sell them. then i buy more. then i sell those.

::takes trey’s gear money and buys a small house::

From Analogman:

n the summer of 2003, Trey sent me 2 more of his used TS9s for the silver mods. He has a box full of pedals according to Brian, who pulled these 2 out and sent them to me. The one on the right had a cracked circuit board so I sent a new one in it’s place. The one on the left was modified and returned. We also sent a CLONE chorus, I hope Trey enjoys it.

There are knob settings visible on these pedals. But Trey tweeks his settings quite often so these may not be his current settings. But in case you would like to know, they were set at:
Drive : 11:00
Tone : 11:50
Level : 1:30

cool, thanks man!

i’ve never run two together. i have a ts-10 i never use but i just pulled it out after i saw this thread. my settings were

drive : 12:00
tone : 1:00
level : 2:00

i’m guessing he uses the first one for regular overdrive and then hits the other one for solos and stuff? he’s got so much stuff hooked up! i would get lost playing with the pedals and forget what i was doing.

^ I’ve dreamed about getting one hour with his rig just to see how fun it would be…if only I had 30 grand lying around.

I’ve got two tubescreamers as well. One of them is the Analogman Silver mod (I think Trey may use these now), and one regular tubescreamer. I use the analogman pedal for a clear tone with very little distortion (2:00 or 3:00), and I’ve got the regular tubescreamer cranked all the way up for overdrive

^^He’s actually got two different amps, one for rhythm and one for soloing. The amp switcher is just to the left of his Wah pedal if you look at the original post.

Great thread…

i have no clue what you guys are talking about  but the links and the convo are great.

continue…

I thought this thread was about Trey’s truck.

I’ve always wondered how the Flatbed Truck Jam worked ^. Did they have a generator on board or something like that to power the amps and what not? I’ve always been curious about that. Anyone know?

I think they just plugged into the cigarette lighter . . .
