Tube

^
True, the “BOAF” is more interesting, improvisational, and thrilling…but the “Tweezer” hits a fat groove early in the jam that makes my mouth water. The 11/17/97 “Tweezer” doesn’t ever do that.

i think the 7-10-99 tweezer ends up pretty cool, but it starts super slow and the band just sounds out of it (imho)
the chalkdust is really great stuff, really gets out of the chalkdust realm. the gin is pretty nice also. the whole release is kind of up and down if you ask me.

I call thread hijack!!!

Anyhow - Tube…

Hershey 2000 - I think someone else mentioned it. Sweet. Hightlight of that show for me.

Also they opened Oswego with it in 99. No post Tube jam but still a solid version.

good call on the hijack.

(ha)

some other great tubes :

12/29/97 MSG
12/13/99 Providence

12/17/95 a good tube in a great show.

Good Call!

I love me 1995!

thanks for the suggestions. i really need to get on some of these shows. ^ gamecat, i can’t wait till they release wonder years on dvd.

ahh…my first show 2-22-03 cincy…second set opener is a phat tube that was super funky and i was lovin it…my favorite since i was there but i also love the work page does in the 12-7-97…another super funky tube

God damn do I love a good Tube.

I think Tube is my new favorite Phish song.

I’ve been listening to the Tube from 11/16/1990 a lot, and I can’t believe how much jamming they fit into three minutes. It’s different in that there’s this build to the first Page solo that sounds a lot like the choppy end of “Punch You in the Eye” … it’s not in the song anymore, so it’s cool to hear. And it’s pretty impressive how smoothly they fall right into the piano jam that follows.

Also, there’s no guitar soloing … you know that part that slows down and changes key where Trey rips it up? Totally absent at 11/16/1990.

Anyone got a 1991 Tube they can tell me about?

edit(Or any recording of it that’s kind of older? I’m wondering when the guitar solo section was added in, and when that staggered intro to the piano solo was dropped.)

editedit the Tube argument earlier in this thread is awesome cuz, not only did the two parties misunderstand that they were on the same page to begin with, but Tube wasn’t even performed at the show in question (LP03 9-14-00).

;D

Tube:

9/18/99. Pretty kickin’

10 days later, 9/28…A damn groovy but short “Tube.”

And this follows a show-opening “Wolfman’s” and “Sneaking Sally!” That’s a hell of a way to start a party.

11-2-1998 is quickly becoming a favorite.

Ankh I had to check out that 1990 Tube on Sugermegs and it sounds so weird truncated like that. The interplay between Page and Trey is the highlight. My favorite version I saw was 11/22/91 U. of Southern Maine gym. It opens up the second set and just rages. It’s on Sugermegs site it’s a little bass heavy mix but worth a listen. Also the YEM from the same set has the most evil vocal jam I ever heard. The end by saying Oh God fuck off or something totally over the top.

Soooo glad they brought the Page funk back to Tube. I can finnally sleep at night :stuck_out_tongue:

Tipatinas 91 NOLA

Much LOVE for Tube

12/29/97 has to be probably my favorite tube (page rips it up)

true dat brohan. I am also taking an extreme likeing to burgettstown 09

Saw the timing for last night’s show…

3:28 Tube!?!

Shortest Tube ever? Gotta be!
