I’m Looking to get a new TV. Preferrably LCD. I don’t wanna go too crazy in terms of price. I mean, I’m prepared to spend a fair amount of coin. But I can’t go over the top. I’m basically looking for a 30"-37" HDTV. I’ve been looking around online alot over the past week.
Any suggestions ,opinions, or experiences regarding brand, size, model, type(tube, lcd, plasma, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.
I got a 20’’ TV from a garage sale for twenty bucks. It’s an old school one that has no RCA plug outs on the back, thus I had to buy a special converter box to hook up my DVD player to it. Works excellent!!
Consumer reports is rating HD TVs twice a year as the technology gets cheaper and people begin buying into it.
Unless you have nothing else to watch, I would do what Icc suggested as prices will most likely come down after the holidays. Anything that merchandisers are putting on deep sale for the holidays is usually the less desireable technology.
If you can wait, I’ll dig up Consumer’s last HDTV rating issue, scan the pages, and email them to you over the holiday weekend. PM me if you’re interested.
Don’t screw around with some crap brand.
Get a name brand.
It’s worth it when your gonna spend that much money.
I have a 40 inch Sony Bravia HD 1080p LCD.
It great. And HDTV is the best.
Especially if you watch sports or any live event that broadcasts in HD.
LCD is the way to go in my opinion, no glare.
In terms of electronics, you got to go name brand.
They know what they are doing.
And get a warranty.
Yeah, Im thinking after the new year. Me and my family are all gonna be in different states for X-mas, so we made a pact to go and get ourselves something nice after the holiday, and forget about exchanging gifts.
Thanks Fone PM Sent
Yeah, I see all these different brands , Vizio, Westinghouse, etc for a couple bucks less, which is tempting, but I’d like to go with Sony or Samsung
The Sony Bravia has been consistently near or at the top of most CR lists for the past year. The only reason CR may not recommend them is for price, since Sonys are usually pricier. But as the man says, ‘you get what you pay for’ most of the time.
If you can’t afford the Sony 1080p, CR suggests that for sets under 40" you really can’t tell much of a difference between 720 and 1080. But this is also their perceptual rating. You really have to take the time to see the difference on display models before you make the decision.
my bro in law has a 62’ 1080p DLP TV, shit is schweet, esp with HD DVD’s/Blueray, forget which one he has
but yeah HD is the shit, can’t wait for more HD channels, then I’ll breakdown and get a HD tv for now i’ll keep mooching off others who have it for the big games and such
