Two Second Gaps

So… Lets say I got this here CD… And there are two second gaps…

How do I get rid of them?

If I rip the file back to my computer, does the two second gap come along for the ride?

Well I know there are a couple ways that they get there. One is if they’re actually mp3 files that have been converted to .wav to make an audio disc, and the other is if the burning program wasn’t set right. There’s a setting (at least on Nero & EAC) that automatically puts two-second gaps between tunes, and yer supposed to change that setting for Phish shows.

I believe they will come along for the ride when ripping them to the computer. Then once they’re there, you’ll have to edit them out if you can do that. I’m not sure what to tell you there; I like to use Sound Forge, but not everyone has that.

That’s a ton of work though; might just be a lot easier to get the show from a different source.

no. those are just on the disc, they’re not written onto the songs. if you rip it to your computer, you’ll just have the songs, no more. then if you want, burn’em off your computer and make sure you change it to “no time in between songs” (which i believe is how it’s worded on Nero)

i can’t stand getting shows with the two second gaps, it just pisses me off when i’m really into a jam and they’re about to drop into a new section/song, and !!BAM!! dead air for 2-seconds…wait for it…YEAH!!!

that bugs me.

ripped to my computer, 2 second gaps still there.

i found an MP3 editor that will cut off the last two seconds (or anything for that matter)… but that would involve converting to mp3… which i do not want to do.

maybe i’ll just ask this… anyone got the first set SBD to 03/29/90 Grateful Dead? ;D

can’t help you on the show but audacity is a free program that will allow you to edit the songs. it will take some time though.

i’d say you could pick it up at gdlive.com but i think weir may have gotten to that site as well.

what’d you rip it to your computer on? i use iTunes and have never had those gaps actually be on the tracks once ripped.

windows media player.

^ hope this wasn’t from the show I gave you. If it is I apologize…

No sir…

This has been a CD I have had for a long time… But the gaps never really bothered me enough to fix it…

But now I am trying to put together another vine of random stuff, and don’t want everybody to have a gapped CD.
