NO SLEEEP TILL TOURRRR!
Just watched the 2nd leg annoncement, and thought it was fecking great. I actually bought & ate Ring Dings tonight for the helluvit too, weird. I mean close enough. Or somethin.
Been digging on Phish a lot lately, have 12.14.95 goin in the car, just started set 2… listened to Green Sparrow side 2 and Original Boardwalk Style record one, over the last couple days. Did you guys see that clip of them giving away the Plymouth Voyager in like 92?
::completely ignores hosemasterflex’s phish thoughts::
So how about that '99 Phish? Huh? Yeh? Amirght?
Boy, Man…
That was their “Touring Vehicle” for the last 3 years according to Trey and he said “See ya in the parking lot after the show…”
They even gave the fan the Title to the car…
Now questions is did the fan who won offer to drive them to the next show?!?! ![]()
And yes, the new vid for Leg 2 was even funnier than Leg 1!!!
Pretty stoked to be hittin up St. Louis, Dicks, and making a game time decision on Alabama and Atlanta. This band takes me to some crazy places I most certainly would never go otherwise. Love it. ![]()
99 is like foreign territory to me, sorry Will. I have like three '99 shows, I saw only one show that whole year … I’ll eventually get there.
I really dig Original Boardwalk Style - although given its performance date, 12/30 & 12/31/2006, I have to wonder how doctored the official release is compared to the raw tapes. Trey’s guitar playing is pretty hot, and his vocals sound on, albeit with that wimpy compromised frail sound goin on. I’m perhaps unfairly assuming he wouldn’t be in the greatest of shapes at those shows.
We’re ten days from Junta vinyl dudes.
Trey got pulled over earlier that month.
Yeah that’s what I’m talking about.
hello… i haven’t listened to phish in about a month… :hides head: :withdraws:
holy shit…where did you come from?!
inorite?! guess who got a new computer! lmao
^Welcome back!
See you this summer? ![]()
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARBS
I listened to Lawn Boy for the first time in ages yesterday and noticed how similar Trey’s vocals are to Frank Zappa’s in terms of the inflections and intonations. I wonder how I never noticed that? Especially on Split Open and Melt and Bathtub Gin.
Good call. I love both early Trey vocals and Zappa’s own lead vocals. Very crisp, well-enunciated, and tastefully cool.

Listening to these old shows lately feels like the answer to wanting Phish to sound like they used to. Seriously, I just totally realized there’s hundreds of Phish shows I can listen to if I ever wish they still sounded like such and such a year.

^ Come on you know it’s not the same as when it’s happening live in front of your very eyes
Granted, it’s amazing that there are 1000+ shows to enjoy. Especially for someone like me who got into the band at the start of 3.0. I’ve barely dipped into the catalog of shows. Maybe only 15-25 1.0 and 2.0 shows that I’m well familiarized with. Something about the knowledge that I can still see the band and wanting to focus on their current style, combined with my usual favoring of what I’m familiar with, leads me to stick to the new stuff.
I’ve got 12/30/11 playing at work right now, don’t get me wrong. I’m saying that I can enjoy 3.0 more if I can get my 1.0 fix a little more often, knah’msayin’brah? The old shows just really hit the spot for me. Especially like, '88 - '92, that era is just the ballsbombtittyshit.
^ I hear, for sure. I’m also sure it’s different for someone who was around during those old years. I know for me that early 1.0 stuff doesn’t get me going the same way the peak 3.0 moments do. I can’t say exactly why. You were around during those early 1.0 years right? I mean I wasn’t even born until '89, in fact I have the show from my day of birth. I just have a totally different relationship to those shows.
