Type Your Phish Thoughts

Yeah I hear that … I’m listening to 8/26/89 (the date of my sixteenth bday!) and it’s over a year before my first show … well, the bass is so muddy on that recording that it really sounds TOO early for my tastes … they made huge progress with their live sound by the time I saw them. Still one of my favorite LP releases though, just so crunchy & fresh, to me. In fact the following year’s show at the same place, Townsend Family Park, is similarly tough to listen to. Maybe I should say that 91 & 92 are really my favorite years.

It’s not my favorite era either, but I’d say that 80’s Phish > 2000-2004 Phish.

Well, I can honestly say that I never listen to any 2.0 shows. I only saw 2 live (12/31/02 & 12/1/03). It’s not that I don’t enjoy the song selection from that era - I actually really like both Undermind & Round Room; I don’t know if this makes sense but the whole scene seemed different (and I think it reflected in the quality of the playing, very disinterested feeling from the crowd and band). I got married and had kids during that time, much like other 1.0 people, and I kinda grew out of it for awhile.

It was my hiatus.

Then 3.0 came and it felt like old times again for some reason. Maybe not so much '09 but '10 I felt the return in full force. Back to the fun, good-time feeling.

So looking forward to Worcester.

I was cleaning house today and went into this old wine box I have with basically old things I wanna keep inside of it. I came across lots of little interesting Phish related stuff:

 • hand written setlists from before the internet - I found a hand-written folded up piece of paper w/the 3/13/92 setlist on it :open_mouth: … the Great Woods/Sugarbush run of 1995 on a big piece of sketch pad paper … the 5/10/92 show that I just relistened to (listing “sparkle” as “laughing laughing fall apart” since I didn’t know its title) on another little piece of paper …

 • cellophane stickers from Junta (advertising Phish’s first studio album for the first time on CD), Hoist, & Rift CDs.

 • a little 4x6 pamphlet from each of the Clifford Ball, Great Went & Lemonwheel, and a bunch of newspaper articles, a Relix w/Phish, a Burlington Free Press I think

 • a few stickers & phish logo patches

 • a picture of our crew at Clifford Ball posing for the camera in front of some porta potties

I also have a box with all my old Phish Newsletters & Doniac Schvices. One of these days I’ll rip those to mp3, I mean scan those to .pdf and share 'em. Are they already out there being shared?

^epic

I have all my old schvice’s too. I actually started scanning them to upload but my scanner is such a piece that I got impatient after two pages and scrapped the idea. Maybe I’ll do it on our nice one at work

Ready and nervous for tour. I’m pretty much doing all of the shows this summer so it will be amazing but i’m also kinda nervous about the whole thing. i’ve done 5 day stretches but thats a different story. Either way i CAN’T FUCKING WAIT!~!~!!!~1!!!1!!!111!!!1
NOIZE!!!

^Now that’s a trooper. If I could I would, but I don’t know how…without losing my job!

Still managing 12 or 13 shows though. Can’t friggin wait. We will party for sure!

I woke up with Jennifer Dances in my head for some reason this morning. I always laugh that people still have such a hate for that song, because to my ears it sounds like it would fit perfectly on Undermind or Joy

Lately, well, more than lately, every time I see the time or date, I think of a show. It just passed 11:22 here so I start thinking Hampton 97. I never used to do this before these Phish got a hold of me. Can’t seem to stop it either. Veird.
And I can’t get ATR out of my head for some other reason.
Damn Phish. Why do I love you? You make me crazy.

My Jeep hit 61,894. It ruled.

my Truck has 40,100 on it…

Happens to me allllll the time.

your not alone.

NOOOOOOOOO

I guess the only positive thing I can think about with that is Harry Hood> Timber Ho

p.s. I know this is an old story just saw the picture today.

Looks like I’m not gonna be headed to Bonnaroo, Portsmouth, or Blossom :frowning: an opportunity came up that I couldn’t pass down. Gonna try making jones beach 1 and charlotte now…

Listened to Joy CD the other day. Liked it.

Yeah.

I wish I remember shows more than I do.

There’s parts of shows I remember, but they seem to be melding all into one. Bits here, bits there - did they do that there? “Oh yeah” I did what at that show? “Oh yeah”

I mean, there’s some shows on my list I couldn’t tell you a god damned thing about  doesn’t mean I didn’t have a good time though :lolno: I seem to remember more of what happened to me during a show than the show itself.

Seriously, my memory is shot.

Hey you’re remembering the right things - they record the actual concerts, so that you’re free to forget all about 'em.

I’m not crazy about Trey’s guitar tone lately - just listened to some of the NYE run and I find his sound a little harsh these days, in the treble department. That’s just what I’m thinkin.

Also, I really really hope we get some new tunes that we love this year. Last year was pretty light on new material - is it just Steam? Only new tune for the whole year?

I agree, but to be honest I really haven’t liked his tone since 98-99. It’s been getting weaker and weaker with more and more treble every tour. The only exception was leg 2 of 2010, right after he broke out the Ocedoc. I was really excited for his tone on that tour but then it got back to being lame that fall.
