Type Your Phish Thoughts

Sticky residue? I have started to notice that too, I thought it was just mine that had that shit, wow…

^some of my LPs have that, some don’t.

I recommend you copy them to CDRs or make mp3s or something. I haven’t taken the actual discs out of those sleeves in years.

The goo may come from high humidity? or high temperature? I dunno…

Most of mine (still in the original sleeves, in the case) are OK. The only one that worried me was Vol. 1, which got cracks around the center holes that actually splintered out into the CD’s playing area, rendering the beginnings unable to play. I had to replace them! It almost seemed like the sleeves were too small for the discs.

:problem:

And here I thought all of the goo on my discs was the product of some drunken stupor, though I shouldn’t rule it out completely.

I remember someone said they had a copy of the “First Show” on here. Did that ever turn up?

I am supposed to get a copy in the mail, but the person is busy at the moment.

I have the ‘second set’ from that show on my computer, but I believe I have the whole thing on cassette. It’s been quite a few years since I’ve dug around in those though and I wouldn’t have any way of getting that on the computer…sorry.

Well, I slept at the new house last night. I felt like I was in a cabin in the mountains. I pretty much am…

It was beautiful waking up there this morning. Happiest night/day I’ve had in a minute.

Hopefully, I’ll get some pictures up sometime this year…

I won’t be around much anymore, but I’ll be checking in from time to time. No more long, drunk, crazy posts.

I love you guys and gals so much, and I love having true friends on here. I’ll stay in touch!!

See you guys on Summer Tour!!!

rocks on

wow I really like the end of set 1 from new years, that jam that comes out of “Steep” is very soothing, and Demand->7below is executed nicely.

best new year’s show I’ve ever seen

They should always play IRONMAN during the 3rd set of 4 day runs.

From top to bottom 7-2-94 could well be the best phish show I saw. Every song is perfectly, tightly played, it has an excellent flow and even some distinct versions such as the simple, mcgrupp and weekapaug. But the FEFY takes the cake for me. its placed 4th song, first set… just as you are getting your juices flowing… trey’s soloing is heart-melting good. He hits a few notes that rip a hole in your heart wide enough to let the sun, moon and all the stars flow through with ease. Its about 2 minutes of soloing perfection… lightly building, slightly holding back but dropping those penetrating notes… all while mike is ripping, rumbling in the background. In fact all 4 are on fire. That is what makes summer 94 the definitive time of phish for me… each member is completely at the top of their game and plays each song with acrobatic joy… its like witnessing Ali or Bruce Lee in his prime… like watching Josh Beckett dominate the Rockies in the 1st inning of the 07 series… unbeatable. Everything that exists in a continuum of time from birth to death, that has a beginning and end, will have a peak moment or period. There will be time and development leading to this period and after there will be the inexorable long decline. It was in these moments of 7-2-94 that I was witnessing phish bloom as I too was blooming into an adult… now many years later I can listen to this show and experience the timelessness of the music. Its a bit joyful to still listen to this band in the knowledge of things past… kinda like an old friend, you don’t expect them to be this way or that way… you’re past that… you’re just happy to have a little more time together…

I am still yet to hear the Genesis covers… and really have no urge to.

You’re not missing much. If you really want them hit me up and I’ll throw the tracks up on my web space. Otherwise, just know that Trey’s voice is terrible and he can’t sing Genesis. The playing was slightly better, but not a lot.

I’m sure people in the audience were thinking, “What’s the big deal about Phish?”

Hey what’s that 91 Giant Country Horns show that ends something like this… ?

Touch Me
HYHU Jam
Hood (Jeopardy Theme)

*Trey says “fuck the clock” when they are told they are running out of time.

1991-07-14 prolly.

Yeah. That’s it. Thanks. Used to rock it all the time and I don’t have a digital copy. Downloading now…

That is probably my favorite from that tour, show length may play a huge part into that.

Yeah…I need to listen to more early Phish these days…but also Will needs to Youtube the good quality version of Phish playing Watcher of the Skies…I think he would love it…or at least not despise it as much as he thinks he will.

EDIT: Fuck it…just hit play.

I’m okay with that
