I would go with Fall 94, specifically November-December. I’ll have to look through some setlists to give you some real recommendations, but off the top of my head I know the Simple from Ann Arbor has a large jazz rhythm section.
Fixed it for ya
While cataloging books today, I came across this entry. Look at the place of publication:
Firenze : ǂb European press academic publishing, ǂc 2010.
The second set from 8/17/97 (with the Went Gin) is one of the most fun Phish sets to play along with on the drums. I was in the fucking zone with this one last night! ![]()
is that show any good?
Decent
AAAAhhhhhh.
::Gets killed by suspense.::
Sitting here waiting on Alpharetta and portsmouth tix to go onsale… Not fun.
Guess it’s not the best time in the world to be living a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean…
Positive vibes go out to all the peeps in Japan!
^Be safe brotha!
^^Whoops. that was supposed to go in non-phish thoughts. Oh well. Their are phans in Japan. ![]()
On another note… super conflicted as to whether or not to grab a 3 day pass to outside lands… I’d go to the whole fest for sure… but wondering if Phish might be playing someplace else when they aren’t playing outside lands… ![]()
ha ha, the “kangfirmed” story below that one is great
“Kang was a member of Phantasy Tour, a website devoted to community interactions that leave the user humiliated yet addicted to the site.”

WTF happened to Trey Monkeystasio announcing Summer Tour? I’m pissed.
I saw it posted on somebody’s facebook page a few weeks ago.
They should really release the last 9 shows of the Summer 95 tour.
I’m a little angry that Summer Tour starts the day AFTER my birthday.
Ernesto, I already wrote your letter to Red Light for you . . .
Red Light Mgmt:
It has come to my attention that CARI BRANNAN, a long time HUGE fanatic, has a birthday on May 26th not 27th, and since we haven’t played a show on her birthday since 1993 for which she was unable to attend as she was 10 years old, we thought we would push back the first Bethel show and the start of tour on the 26th so she will be able to have her very first birthday show. And we will also open the show with Skin It Back and shove a Harpua and a 35-minute Sand in the second set for good measure.
Sincerely yours,
Big Red

Why didn’t he ask them to just add a show rather than push the whole tour back? That would’ve been sweeter.
EDIT: I forgot to add that I think this is one of the greatest lyrics in music history:
“That big ol’ mule took a big ol’ dump”
I think that Fishman should sing “I Shall Be Released”
It would be perfect for just piano, bass, & drums. The Band style.
Sad news from Fish:
R.I.P Joe Morello (1928-2011)
[i]I had three drum lessons when I was 13 to learn how to read from a guy named Dave Hanlon in Syracuse. The only other lessons I’ve ever had were from Joe and they were 15 years apart. I went to him in '09 for the second one. I kind of knew this was coming after leaving that lesson. I’m very sad about this. My entire rudimentary practice routine has come from him. The last lesson I had with him was basically a confirmation that everything he had told me 15 years earlier was right and that I should stay on that track. What he taught me was literally the foundation of everything I will ever do on the drums and the value of having the confidence of knowing the instruction I received from him is as sound as it is can not be over stated. I owe him for correcting my mistakes, putting me on a right path and keeping me on it. Amazing. I am so grateful!"

^Wow. Very interesting… And sad. That’s crazy.

Internet to Phantasy Tour: Please Be Nicer

World Wide Web: The internet, currently populated by brutal, racist, homophobic, child-porn addicted members, has issued a mass statement requesting that the popular jam-band message board Phantasy Tour be “a bit nicer, more appropriate,†and that they “learn some web-etiquette,†sources tell us.
“They’re just big bullies,†commented Jim Harkins, founder of the popular Aryan Nation website WhiteWorld.com.
“They really need to polish their fact-checking,†said the members of UFONation.com, a popular conspiracy theorist gathering place. “I’ve read some wild shit on that website. Believe what you want, but you gotta show some restraint. This is, after all, a public forum.â€
Phantasy Tour has responded to the accusations with a carefully articulated press release, which reads: “KYS, SIIHB, DIAF, etc etc.â€
